I have been working at TNS Employee Insights (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work from home options and managers who work with your schedule. PTO is fabulous and the co-workers are wonderful to work with for the most part. Also a wonderful commute for those who live in the NW Suburbs

    Cons

Upper management is in peril and needs some serious attention to be able to retain good employees, very underpaid for the multiple hats we are forced to wear and makes it seem like upper management doesn't value that skill to do more than one role at once.

    Advice to Management

practice what you preach - engage YOU employees first and then maybe you can better help your clients

    Pros

Can be a solid place to gain some career experience.

    Cons

For a small company, processes are somewhat disorganized. In my opinion, employees are not utilized effectively. Also, the company appears to lack a strong strategic vision and competitive differentiation.

    Advice to Management

Expand to other areas beyond employee engagement, and hire individuals that have more rigorous training in research methodology around the core product offerings. Also, I would suggest changing the go-to market strategy and competitive differentiation to remain competitive in a crowded market.

    Pros

Flexible work arrangements and great people

    Cons

Senior Leadership does not have a very good sense of direction. The company strategy shifts on a regular basis, which makes it very hard to succeed. Also, Senior Management shows no appreciation to employees. Everyone is on edge for the next round of layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Pick a direction and stick to it. Try listening to your employees and really taking their advise. After all, they are the ones that know what is going on and are the ones doing all of the work.

    Pros

TNS really has great employees lead by some great senior managers. The teamwork and support between employees is really great. Good starting PTO time offered.

    Cons

The downside to TNS starts with the CEO. He has absolutely no vision for the company, and is barely keeping the doors open. Clients are continually lost to competitors who invest in their technology and more importantly, invest in their employees. TNS does not follow what they preach in employee engagement. TNS may have bought TNS Employee Insights, but they do not oversee any decisions made at the local level.
It's sad to read any positive review on TNS Employee Insights Glassdoor as you can tell which are truthful reviews, and which ones are fake. The review dated: Jan 22, 2015 was planted.

    Advice to Management

Management (from TNS Global) needs to replace the CEO or force him to have a business manager who can guide him, and the company as a whole, in an upward direction. Until he is forced out, the company may never see brighter days.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, employees are nice, good technology for a small company, good amount of starting paid time off, can work from home occasionally.

    Cons

Depending on the project you may have to work a lot of hours. There is very high turnover and little room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Create a better balance between the amount of work employees get. Some people have to work 30 while others work 60 or 70 when in the same position.

I worked at TNS Employee Insights full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good culture, easy to get along with most employees, snacks, good experience doing employee engagement survey work

    Cons

Poor business model, no room for advancement given the small office size, inadequate training

    Advice to Management

Reconsider the criteria for selecting Project Managers not based on educational "alignment" nor working knowledge of the Lake Zurich area

    Pros

Management is open to trying new technologies. We are in the process of moving to using contemporary software/tools which will make life a whole lot easier for the development and the ops teams.

Good coworkers that like the work that they do.

    Cons

No growth for improvement since it is a pretty flat hierarchy.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time keeping everyone aware of things that are going on in the company rather than it coming as an afterthought.
