I have been working at TPG Hotels & Resorts full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you want to work for a reputable, growing, results driven company this is the one for you. Working for this company makes you feel like you are part of a large family. Everyone at the corporate office that I’ve ever encountered whether it be in person, over the phone or via email genuinely cares about the success of the properties and associates. I’ve always felt appreciated and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a leader for this company.

    Cons

Could use some improvement on benefits package.

I worked at TPG Hotels & Resorts full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you have a good regional it makes all the difference, corporate leadership is out of touch regarding what it takes to operate a hotel.

    Cons

This is a company focused on profit not people. After covid-19 they cut wages with no word of returning them, no appreciation for those on the front lines, PPE sent months late and no communication from corporate regarding future strategy.

I worked at TPG Hotels & Resorts full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Nice location, resort hotel on the lake.

    Cons

Corporate office doesn’t have my trust in staff onsite at hotel. I had no decision making ability about the accounting and finance decisions at my hotel. They could have hired a very capable bookkeeper to do the job. Vacation policy is beyond horrible - no vacation for first year and only two weeks per year after that. I was told this is non-negotiable. I was looking for a new opportunity after two months in - luckily I found something and only had to endure the “TPG” way for four months. Stay far away from any kind of management job in one of the hotels unless you are lazy and only want the title.

I have been working at TPG Hotels & Resorts full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The corporate workers who are not "vice presidents" of something seem to know their stuff and are capable of making on the spot decisions. Most of my coworkers were nice.

    Cons

Top heavy corporate structure. There seems to be a "vice president" for everything, so no one can make a decision without consulting6 or 7 different vice presidents, who all give differing opinions. Benefits package is horrible, HR does not seem to know the labor laws in my state as they have broken several while I have been there. Their HR on property does not care about anyone but herself.. Talks about other employees behind their backs Corporate does not communicate well with their properties, they do not trust their gms to make decisions on their own.

    Pros

How they treat their employees during the Coronavirus outbreak tells a lot about a company. They laid off 95 percent of their sales staff with no notice. No severance and cut off health insurance the last day worked. Couldn’t even give Insurane till the end of the month under the circumstances. Horrible people

    Cons

Bad leadership, no communication, horrible vacation policy and lack of benefits

I have been working at TPG Hotels & Resorts full-time for more than a year

    Pros

None that I can think of

    Cons

Poor compensation No holiday bonus Yearly cost of living increase is between 1 and 3 percent No yearly bonus Limited to no upward mobility Properties are franchises so no branded benefits (ie. Marriott has the quarter century benefits, buying power benefits, etc. TPG does not have these) 401k is 3% match after 1 year (this is old fashioned and needs to be updated) Vacation is 1 week after the first year. This needs to be updated as well. Lastly, health insurance is terrible and beyond expensive. Be prepared to pay a lot for a little.

    TPG Hotels & Resorts Response

    HR Communications Mgr.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We always want to hear from our associates when they have concerns. TPG does offer comparable wages and benefits in the industry. Due diligence is done yearly in early fall, to confirm pay is similar to the same positions within a local radius of each hotel. Because of the flags that we have franchises with, there are many reward programs at the individual hotel level, as well as great travel benefits for all associates throughout the portfolio. Have you spoken to your Manager, Regional or HR Director? If you're not happy in your position, they may be able to help you find another position that would be a better fit for you whether it's at the same hotel, or at another. If it's moving up within your department or the company, I'm sure they could be helpful in advising you on steps to take that would further your career. I will certainly pass your comments along, but hope you do reach out to someone at your property. Associate satisfaction is very important to us.
