    Pros

TSMC brand name & the latest technology node to work.

    Cons

    Too many hierarchies.
Work Life Balance unable to meet with targets.
Profit sharing (variable pay) is too much
The worst for non Taiwanese engineers to work in Taiwan.
Too much secretive style of working.
Employee is cut from family and external world, once @ office. No smartphones allowed inside office.
Too much mental stress and peer pressure on employee to achieve decent grade.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the hierarchy and don't squeeze blood out of the employee

    Pros

senior management was great, humble and helpful

    top-notch fabs
    salary
    activities, infrastructure

    Cons

    motivation is extremely low
horrible information sharing among groups and departments
    lots of unnecessary pressure
uber long working hours (14hrs/day regularly, 16 - 18hrs are no exception)
low-level (technical) managers are proud and bossy
company is too large - newcomers have hard time having any impact
    bad company culture
    constant IP brainwashing
overtime up to 3hrs is considered "daily workload" and is not compensated for

    Advice to Management

improve motivation - management does not know how to inspire young people and only cares about getting things done fast
change IP policy - IP causes huge inefficiencies among department communication

I worked at TSMC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good medical insurance plan and stable job

    Cons

    1. Hardwork are not recognized since the big bosses are in Taiwan.
    2. HR keep lying about good bonus and salary progression. Then you join and realize it's not just lower than what they said, but SUBSTANTIALLY lower. And later you find out HR here is so powerful that your boss can't even help you with a more reasonable pay.
    3. Hours are long considering the poor salary. There are lots of meetings till night with the Taiwan people

    Pros

one of the best companies in terms of job security. A normal/low level of knowledge is enough to get a job in tsmc, but you need to have good university degree.

    Cons

    work hours are too long.
Appraisal and career growth is not transparent.
The culture is like the employee should do whatever the manager gives. Even if everyone knows that its non-sense, you just need to do it.
When the company is in loss, they will cut employee salaries. But, when company is in higher profits, they will not give any extra profit sharing bonus.

    Advice to Management

Treat employee as a partner, not as slave.
