I worked at Tabula Inc full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to work. The team has strong bond and working with each other is easy. Focusing on real work related issues with political dramas. Comparable benefits to other public companies. Management cares about its employees.

    Cons

As a startup company, budget is tight and thus facility is mediocre which is not a big deal. No year bonuses in the later years (no one actually expects bonuses in start-up companies).

    Advice to Management

While it's a great place to work, some of the money could be spent in more important area instead of roadshows, etc. We needed to keep our burn-rate down.

I worked at Tabula Inc full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I never had the "Sunday dreads" while working at Tabula. You know the dreads...Sunday afternoon hits and you dread Monday morning coming. I always looked forward to seeing and working with my team.

    Cons

A small company of ~100 but split between 2 floors...making it hard to really connect with everyone. It was too easy to go a week or more without seeing a good percentage of the team.

    Advice to Management

Help to narrow the team's focus to better ensure project completion in a timely manner and ramp to market success.

    Pros

The technology is unique and very interesting. Coworkers are talented, but nevertheless very accessible. The culture in general is very open. It is a start up, so everyone needs to pull his or her weight.

    Cons

Financials situation is not good. The vacation is pretty standard. New employee training is much better than anything I have seen, but that was expected considering unique technology.

    Advice to Management

Better focus on delivery of products.

I have been working at Tabula Inc full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Since I have been at Tabula, I have been deeply impressed by my fellow employees, who are great stewards of a hugely complex technical conundrum. They are very dedicated, and they really want to make a mark on the industry of reconfigurable computing, even stretching to compete with Company X and Company A. But this technology could have much wider implications. Tabula may create a niche between APIP/ASIC chips and FPGAs, which would be a huge accomplishment.

    Cons

Sine I have been working there, I have seen many example of the company management getting muddled as to what the end point should be. The exit strategies floated all seem extremely long term, and this is not appealing to employees who are counting on leveraging their options. In Series D financing, some dilution occurred, and employee who left, were essentially diluted to near zero. It is quite apparent to people both within and outside the company that they will need additional financing to bring the second round of ABAX chips to market. Only with the new line of ABAX chips can this company reach a break even state, so this financing must occur. It will result in further option/stock dilution to the employees. As time goes forward, the situation will become iffier and iffier for the newest employees. Loyalty is already on the wane.

    Advice to Management

Consider exit strategies which protect the position of the employees. They have all made huge sacrifices, and it would be a tragedy, if the investors got paid in a deal for sale of intellectual property or partnership with another player. An IPO is out of the questions for years to come. As the economy improves, loyalty wil become harder and harder to maintain.

    Pros

High impact and visibility, great management team as well as employees...Talent bar is extremely high, with a great culture and people.

    Cons

start up cons...although there is open communication throughout the company, being a start up, the future is uncertain as well as having limited resources.

    Advice to Management

As of now, just keep being open with all of us employees.
