I worked at Takasago International full-time

    Pros

    - Laid back work-environment
    - friendly co-workers once they get to know you
    - decent hours/summer hours
    - Rarely working hard.

    Cons

    - Management can be a bit biased towards employees.
    - Unfair treatment; some people immediately get reprimanded while others do not for the same violation depending on who you are to them.
    - minor prejudices from upper management.
    - not the best insurance packages.
    - People tend to throw you under the bus a lot to cover themselves or just to be a tattle-tell.

    Advice to Management

Treat people equally, it's not fair that one person will get fired and another person will get a slap on the wrist for the same violation. Treat people like human-being instead of just someone who's replaceable.

    Pros

Small Company Culture, Good Mix of People - a comfortable place to work

    Cons

Slow to make meaningful strategic decisions that will advance the company ,

Too quick to make decisions that are short sighted with long term impact

    Advice to Management

Hold onto what is good about the company & culture while demonstrating a willingness to change for the better - look to your competition to better appreciate the era you are operating in and what needs to be done to remain competitive

    Pros

CO-Workers are great and work for nothing

    Cons

The following is in regards to how I and other employees at Takasago Harriman feel as far as the treatment of employees within the company. I have noticed that certain employees within the company have been
receiving favoritism from the supervisors or those in power within the company; meanwhile there are employees and former employees that were reprimanded and even terminated for violating the company polices or having accidents. There have been employees that have had accidents in the facility and have not been retrained or dealt with until days later, meanwhile I have seen the same thing happen with African American employees and they have been immediately dealt with or even terminated. I have also noticed how there have been employees who have been suspended and even terminated by the company who are also African American for the attendance policy but there are other employees who have constantly violated the policy and are still working without any repercussions. Even when being talk too some of the supervisors in the facility will not even make eye contact with you if you are African American. It is very demoralizing to see this happen and go through this on a day to day basis. I would like to see things change and Takasago be like it used to be, a place where everyone would be treated equal and I am not alone in these feelings. We are all human and no one should be treated differently based on their race. And just recently one more black employee was terminated for nothing after he gave his two week notice.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to stop hiding the way they treat people

Good working environment and peers and subordinates are great to work with.

    Cons

Upper management continues to micro manage and are not consistent in their fair and equal treatment of subordinates.

    Advice to Management

Clean house, starting at the Director level and upward. If Japanese headquarters only knew how mismanaged US operations are.
