I worked at Take Charge America full-time

    Pros

Facility is well situated for 101 or I-17 access. It's rewarding to help clients pay off their debts.

    Cons

Dismal future for this company and the current employees. Huge net loss this year and there's no new business or a professional business development team in place to change course. Senior leadership has limited skill set and lacks ability to create new programs.

    Advice to Management

Company needs a change in direction, leadership and business development strategy. Close the company and donate funds to a worthy nonprofit, or fund the U of A financial education program.

I worked at Take Charge America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only reason to work at this company is to help clients pay off their debts, that feels good. The building is nice but most of it is rented out to a credit repair company.

    Cons

The most obvious is the self-serving leadership team. I could never figure out why some senior leaders with only a high school degree and little or no experience outside the company earn high six figure salaries, while revenues continue to drop. It seems wrong that the same senior leaders get a big year-end bonus when the company is suffering, in decline and layoffs occur. This company lacks new ideas, they are stagnant and show no hope of turning things around. I am glad to be out of there and working for a company with competent leadership.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. Maybe it's time for a new CEO, the current one has been a total failure. Find some qualified professionals with an education and business experience. Find a qualified business development professional.

    Pros

The company continues to have a positive impact while helping our clients. The counselors are very knowledgeable and take pride in their accomplishments. The company values its employees (even when some do not appreciate their efforts). Regardless of comments from others, I believe leadership works diligently with all employees to serve the needs of financially distressed consumers.

    Cons

TCA has had some struggles. Yet, it seems anonymity makes it easy for some to throw stones, when the comments have little merit.

    Advice to Management

Keep your chin up and keep moving the company forward.

    Pros

There use to be pros, but i guess the access is good. It is pretty central. One good thing is when there are layoffs there are good severance packages. So each year i hang in there feed my 401k and wait until i get the ax

    Cons

There are too many to list. The place is like a morgue we have lost so much great staff. Every year we have pie in the sky dreams of turn aound and every May we have lay offs.

    Advice to Management

I am not sure. Maybe it is time for managemnt to leave or shut the company down. But it is a very depressing place to work

I worked at Take Charge America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

At one point in time the company was enjoyable to work for.

    Cons

Total and complete incompetent management. Only concerned with their personnel agendas. The counselors are severely over worked and are scrutinized when they are unable complete their daily tasks.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the remaining counselors before you no longer have counselors

    Pros

The people - they care. They are always eager to help consumers who are in need. We all work hard to make a difference in people's lives. Even though our industry has been in decline, we show up and contribute every day to help consumers facing a variety of financial difficulties.

    Cons

The industry is in decline and it is difficult to spread the word about the good people that are here to help those in need.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing forward. Every day is worth it when we can still help those in need.

    Pros

Great place to work where each person in management truly cares about the employees.

    Cons

The constant threat of being laid off each year as the company continues to down size.

    Pros

The only good thing about this company was the hours.

    Cons

The work life- sucked!- The only thing the Director- If that is what you call them don't have any idea how to run a department and promote revenue. Putting someone to run a department and have no idea of the programs says alot. No only that- you are there to service the clients, but they look more for money in there pockets. One day you were doing a great job another well you were not because you were not making the numbers they wanted. The mission was not there. Money was being spent on non-sense. You give them ideas and guess what later your out the door with no job!!!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the people who are there that don't do nothing. I would say SLT!
