I have been working at Takeda Pharmaceuticals as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is doing very well at the moment, and the people that work there are great to work with as well

    Cons

If you start as a contractor it may be tough to work towards a full-time position at the company.

I have been working at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very competitive pay and benefits. Vedolizumab is a great drug.

    Cons

The assets were too expensive (5+ billion for Ariad? Really?) and the pipeline will be too little/too late to compete in the oncology I/O space with the big boys.

    Advice to Management

Take the next logical step toward your external focus

I worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Takeda is an established company with a solid internal infrastructure and generally talented and amazing employees.

    Cons

Takeda unfortunately couldn't always keep great talent during the transition from Millennium to Takeda in 2013-2014.

    Advice to Management

Retain valuable contractors as well as employees.

I have been working at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company is focused on generating good benefit packages for employees. There are some very nice people at the company and the medical colleagues are very nice and competent.

    Cons

Difficult environment to be connected into and they have no function doing market access for current and future products. Predict the start of major financial issues for this company starting later this fall.

    Advice to Management

    Hire competent experienced people

I worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals (More than a year)

    Pros

Work life balance, benefits, casual dress, open bar and appetizer mingles during work hours.

    Cons

I had the luxury of working for the world's worst manager I have ever encountered in my 44 years on Earth. I also found out 2 former employees quit under her in 2 years because they couldn't stand her micromanagement and erratic behavior. Takeda DOES NOT have 360 degree feedback (you CAN'T give an evaluation on those above you) perhaps if they did, this woman would have been long gone before I started.

I also found out this company undergoes a re-org. every year to year and a half and lots of folks this time around were either let go or transferred to a company Takeda does business with.

If you want to transfer out of the company, you have to let your manager know that you're posting out. You are then black balled once you do, this rule is asinine!

Doesn't make you feel good knowing you may not make the cut every re-org.

    Advice to Management

BRING BACK 360 degree feedback, you used to have it, I'm not sure why you did away with it, it should be reinstated to get rid of problem people in position of power.

People should be allowed to post out without telling their manager.

I have been working at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great location in Cambridge, MA, competitive salary, flexible working arrangements and lots of nice co-workers. On first blush Takeda is a great place to work.

    Cons

Like most large pharmas, Takeda is constantly "transforming" itself which is Takeda speak for downsizing. The R&D Organization, where I work, has undergone two global, large scale downsizings, in the past two years. Additionally, management is very disconnected with the employee-base. In short, we lose people every day who we can't afford to lose.

    Advice to Management

Make an effort to better connect with the employee-base. Less downsizing and more building a positive culture. Finally, former employees report that they are not well treated when exited. This reflects poorly on the organization and its leadership.

    Pros

    Great people, science, culture, benefits.
Flexibility options like work from home

    Cons

Pace of growth is slow; promotion takes a v long time (typical feature with big companies)

I worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Good opportunities for people with no experience. Welcomes people from all backgrounds. Friendly work environment.

    Cons

Not enough guidance and help for interns. People in my R&D team was doing things that weren't their expertise. Need team leaders who's competent and who designs good projects. Lack of work-life balance. Too much low-impact work.

    Advice to Management

Hire people with relevant background and let them lead the team instead of letting people from outside of the field lead, just because they were in a more senior position.
