I worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, good salaries, a lot of training.

    Cons

It was all consuming and you could never do enough.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the amount of work people are doing to bring success to a territory and the company. If you continue to require so much busy work reporting and driving you will continue to lose talent. All the extra reporting and paperwork take time away from family that would recharge your reps and ultimately make them more productive.

    Pros

Takeda was a great work environment if you enjoy the corporate America feeling. They were organized with their training and the clinical learning environment was thorough.

    Cons

Management styles were full of micromanaging and little to no recognition. There was no room for growth or promotion within the company. Not only this but their primary care sales continually had dwindling resources and zero pipeline for product development.

    Advice to Management

Hire new territory managers to better coach representatives. Look for ways to execute, not just say, ways to grow reps professionally and in their career.

    Pros

Great benefits, great pay, flexible work-life balance and you can really advance your career without really knowing too much nor working to hard!

    Cons

Took what was the prize jewel in their portfolio, Millennium, and reduced it down to a fractured entity of quarreling fiefdoms entangled in operating among sub-standard performing pensioners, forced to muddle through countless levels of legacy Takeda and Nycomed bureaucracy. Supposedly the future revenue growth for Takeda is coming from Millennium pipeline yet little high level management presence of former Millennium employees in global management roles and folks making decisions who are making decisions that are insensitive to Millenniums operating model any whom have little exposure to small molecule and biologics.

    Advice to Management

Put your money where your mouth is and stop speaking out of both sides of your mouth. If Millennium is the true growth driver for the business then treat it like it is. Start listening and see what a true collaborative business model looks like.

I worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The product training provided at Takeda is great. You have to study, learn and take an exam on all of the products that will be in your portfolio which is tedious and very difficult but very necessary.

    Cons

I was lucky to have very knowledgeable, positive and supportive district managers. However, my regional manager heavily micro-managed their district managers and sales reps and attempted to motivate everyone out of fear which was totally wrong. Pay is very low compared to majority of top pharma companies.

    Advice to Management

Know that everyone is motivated differently. Ask for solutions to road blocks and genuinely care about what reps on the ground are facing. At the end of the day, it's sales and you are a number but support goes a long way.
