Good Place to Start in Pharma
Aug 4, 2019 - Information Analyst in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Standard WFH days, good people (outside of functioning department) - Directors, Managers are approachable even Head of Departments wil say 'hello'. ICH GCP training is delivered better compared with the company it's partnered with (PRA).
Cons
Too much sticking to SOPs and following everything exactly as they are written, with no real deviation or real problem solving. Entry level departments of work functions are seen as simpler things rather than what they are e.g. Regulatory Information Management is seen by the managers and senior upper management as 'data entry' - which is not correct when you are dealing with complicated databases and people who use those tools daily.

Depends on who you know, not what you know
Dec 16, 2016 - Staff Scientist in San Diego, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Good benefits. - Fair and generally above market compensations. - Pretty good work life balance but really depends on supervisor. - Nice cafeteria and food program.
Cons
- HIGHLY political environment. A lot of passive aggressive jabs between managers jockeying for favors and a lot of behind the doors deals with upper management. - It doesn't matter how much you (or your group) contributes unless your manager is really cozy with the upper management. I've seen people in teams who contribute very little and still get to skate by just on account that their manager is 'tight' with the director. - On the same point as before, if your manager isn't shining shoes and in good graces with upper management, there is little to zero chance of any promotions. - Morale has taken a HUGE dip recently with all of the 'changes' (aka layoffs) that have occurred recently. - In the time that I've been here, it seems like these 'changes' happen every one or two years. Most people get the feeling that its only a matter of time before they're on the chopping block so there's not a lot of peace of mind or stability. - Seems to be a big disconnect between the upper management and the rank and file. Seen a director try to force feed some 'Energy Bus' mentality in his group to pick up morale but doesn't realize that its him and how he runs his ship that's the problem. - Generally not a lot of exciting work going on in the pipeline in this site. Having been around the block for a while already, sensing another 'change' happening soon...

Pros
Great work life balance and friendly work environment
Cons
Large amount of upper management positions and they all seem to be filled with young professionals; leaving not much room for immediate growth

Takeda is a great company experiencing some growing pains in a changing industry.
Feb 27, 2012 - in Deerfield, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Takeda respects and takes care of its employees by offering flexibility, autonomy, and excellent pay and benefits. Upper management in the US organization seems to care about the future business in the US as well as its employees.
Cons
International leadership does not seem focused or concerned about the US business, and has a very questionable pipeline of future products for the US market.

Poor treatment of manufacturing personnel
Nov 10, 2020 - Manufacturing Technician in Cambridge, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good coworkers, good learning environment
Cons
Disorganized management, Pay is low compared to other companies. Recently changed to 12 hour shifts but there is little to no work after midnight. Morale is awful. Upper management does not focus on what’s important rather then new operational ideas that never get followed through with.

Apr 29, 2019 - Director of Operations in Cambridge, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great ambition to help patients and change the way that things work in the pharma industry
Cons
Upper management doesn't seem to realize/care what a mess all of the processes are and how complicated it is to get anything done

Dishonest company who is not transparent about the shire integration
Feb 20, 2020 - Senior Manufacturing Associate in Cambridge, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great place to start a career in manufacturing.
Cons
Most supervisors here dont know much about GMP's, GDP's, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. To many senior managers implementing unreasonable new processes just to boost there resumes. Dishonest hiring practice, they will bait and switch new employees to cover overnight shifts. Currently upper management is lying about the longevity of its Alwife site to keep employees.
