    Pros

Easy work and mostly friendly shoppers

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Be open to employees doing things differently than they've been done in the past. Know that you have talented people who can get the job done, even if they do it in a different way than you.

I have been working at Talbots full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great employee discount. New online ordering system and POS enhanced system is very user friendly and quicker so there is a better customer experience

    Cons

Store managers are expected and consistently told to do more with less. Payroll is always an issue and there is never enough, so to help keep costs down, some managers work 6 days a week. I have people on staff that have one 4 hour shift a month because that is all I can afford. Full time assistants in my store have been brought down to 32 hours a week from a full 40 hour work week and we are heading in to holiday season. We have a culture of doing what is right for the customer...how about doing what is right for your customer facing associates? They just spend millions of dollars on crates, totes, bins, etc to organize our backrooms and most of it doesn't work for smaller stores. They sure know how to waste money..they should invest that money in payroll where there is going to be the biggest payoff. How about a raise? 2% over the last seven years really isn't cutting it for the amount of work we do for you. And your yearly corporate meetings? We love to hear about how drunk everyone gets when our DM talks about the meetings after she returns. Then we are told to be creative with our scheduling due to lack of payroll.

    Advice to Management

look at where you are spending money and does it make sense? Invest where it is needed...your people and payroll.

I have been working at Talbots full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free Coffee and Tea which is a nice walk to get, investing in new systems

    Cons

No raises, hard to get promoted, terrible health insurance

    Advice to Management

The value of the dollar changes so without raises you are actually making less then the prior year. If you want to keep young talent your need to be more competitive in the market, especially since your location is inconvenient to the city.

    Pros

Beautiful Store, good discount, good location. Nice people that work at store. In a nice location with local following. Trunk shows, customer service, hugs where you get to spend money on loyal customers who need a special treat.

    Cons

They scheduled me out of my availability and unorganized. Could not hire a store manager. I asked for certain days off and I am a client specialist and I get scheduled at night and I'll on days that I am not available.

    Advice to Management

    Hire good managers

Great associates to work with everyday so the days go fast and you never seem to have a slow day

    Advice to Management

Take care of employees as much as you take care of customers

I worked at Talbots full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The discount and the most of customers!

    Cons

I worked and talbots for almost 10 years. Once I decided to leave I called my DM to give her a heads up. She stated she would call me in a few day to do an exit interview. She never called me. It funny how multiple long term employees left in her district and she doesnt want to find out the reason why.
Not enough payroll hours to run the store at its full potential.
Not enough payroll to accomplish task like floor move after hours so you have to do it during the day.
We should not be open on hoildays like july 4th and new years. The store is slow and you could save the payroll money!
Upper management(DM) is snoddy and if you are not part of the mangement team in the store they dont get to know the employees.

    Advice to Management

When you cut your assistant managers hours from 39.5 to 32 hours there is a problem!! If i was the store manager i would have put up a fight for my managers hours or else they will leave.
