I worked at Talbots part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most clients were wonderful to assist

    Cons

Very Low Pay for what is expected, workhours were erratic, management really pushed for credit cards, and no bonus or raises unless you're in management . Did reviews with employees to focus how employee can improve, but no raise or incentive. Clothes are imported and for the price paid some of the clothes needed more quality control.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what your employees are saying. Treat all your employees fairly. Follow thru

I have been working at Talbots part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pleasant work environment, most customers appreciative of service and knowledge in putting outfits together. Good team support

    Cons

Unsteady work schedules, sometimes only one week in advance which makes planning for personal life impossible Pressure to open TCC's, call and e-mail customers on a daily basis etc. They are already getting daily emails from corporate and many have opted out because of that. No regular meetings to discuss future plans for business. No promoting from inside or appreciation of hard working staff

    Advice to Management

Know your associate's strengths and schedule them for busy hours to maximize potential and sales. train new hires before putting them on floor totally unprepared.

I have been working at Talbots part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great employee discounts, good clientele build up, and a great team to work with... also the brand moment times when you get a higher discount!

    Cons

Scheduling, switching shifts, unfair treatment, the age groups were definitely treated different. Wouldn't recommended for younger age groups.... older age group catered to more

    Advice to Management

I think that all ages should be treated the same, just because Talbots caters to an older age group doesn't mean younger women can't do a great job making it a little more youthful!

I have been working at Talbots full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great environment to learn
    Very professional company

    Cons

    Clientele can often be rude

    Advice to Management

The customer service is fantastic; maybe too fantastic. Taking care of "her" is a great motto, however we should not be taken advantage of as a company. Nor should our employees be mistreated by the customer when we are providing the absolute best service. Management should have stricter rules with the occasional exception for our customers when it's necessary to grant them a favor.

I have been working at Talbots full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The relationships that are built with customers each and every day--very loyal customer base.

    Cons

Extremely operational with major Floor Sets every 4 weeks along with small adjustments 2 weeks after. Payroll is very tight and challenging in order to have enough selling floor coverage to build relationships and also complete non-selling operational tasks timely. Management is also suppose to train, coach, and lead Client Specialists to provide customers with an experience and build relationships.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time one on one with a store's staff in order to assist and enhance the training of a team plus experience the day to day coverage challenges that are faced during busy times.

    Cons

Lack of direction. Company focus changed so much you didn't know if you were coming or going

    Advice to Management

Change is inevitable; however, it shouldn't be never ending
