I worked at Taleo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great industry, great software product offerings, many opportunities for career advancement.

    Cons

Immediate R&D supervisor was mean and played tricks but was most likely only a reaction to pressure from management ... layoff threats were on a quarterly basis.

    Advice to Management

Always be upfront and sincere to your employees because they can tell if you are not.

I worked at Taleo (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Entrepreneurial, fast-paced and quite a few career opportunities. There were sufficient politics but otherwise it was ok.

    Cons

Too much management pride and hubris. Not fun. Lots of sportcoat culture

I worked at Taleo full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work was very agreeable, the people are good

    Cons

The service to the customers wasn't that great. I spent a lot of time talking to angry customers.

    Pros

    Great product
    Low price
    Cool logo
    Benefits rock
Base is good - this is all you will make which is why the SCs transferred from sales.

    Cons

Management has no experience, especially senior management
Here are the territories: Nor Cal, So Cal, NY, IL, then ID/Montana/ND/SD, or WA/OR - so you're lucky and make money if you get a major market

Favoritism - this is embarrassing. One rep hit quota the whole year, and he had 3 territories.

Mid-market reps average about 50% of quota, so they are broke.

    Advice to Management

No advice. Mike Gregoire told the company he was not selling the company. How do you fix liars?

    Pros

Good benefits, Competitive pay, Casual Environment

    Cons

Forget career growth if you don't work at head quarters in Dublin California. Top level management and representation at Jacksonville FL office is non-existent. It feels like only a matter of time before Taleo shuts down all R and D in Jacksonville FL. Very slow turn around time if you need something from other teams, especially in the QC office.

    Advice to Management

Realize that relocating all R and D to Silicone Valley is going to come back to bite you. Your top talent is going to get poached or move to other companies, only mediocre will remain. You are pushing away a lot of talent that wants to be here.

Your a software company, don't outsource the heart of you business!!!

    Pros

    Work with some great people

    Cons

After it's acquisition of Vurv, the vibrant atmosphere of the office was lost and replaced by an overall sense of humdrum.
Too many layers of management for my taste.
