I have been working at Talisys full-time

    Pros

Great culture and thoughtful leadership. Smart employees who are motivated to make customers happy.

    Cons

Need more brand recognition and we are working on that.

I have been working at Talisys full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Executives that have an open door policy. Lots of lunch and learns which promotes understanding of what other departments are doing. Management that is willing to let you think outside the box. Flextime and a management team that allows flexibility when family issues arise.

    Cons

Not enough resources to get us in a position to be proactive instead of being reactive.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to speak with employees that are not Directors or Managers to find out how those managers are viewed by the employees. Have employees rate their managers and directors so you see the full picture of how your managers are doing.

I have been working at Talisys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free snacks and drinks, annual bonuses, lots of holidays/pto, challenging and interesting work. I haven't had an issue with any co workers or management. Management is usually very helpful and prompt. Lots of lunches and dinners for company events and installs.

    Cons

Communication between one another is poor. I don't think that is a reflection of the company as a whole, more or less a reflection of the attitude of some employees. Need newer code.

    Advice to Management

Center annual goals more around the individual versus the entire group.

I have been working at Talisys full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees for the most part are engaged and dedicated to developing quality code.
    Management is exceptional.
    Fun and friendly work environment.

    Cons

Client expectations sometimes overrule the principle of testing until its ready.
The infinite definability of the system is as much a con as it is a pro. It makes testing next to impossible.

    Advice to Management

Reduce project size/scope or staff appropriately.

I have been working at Talisys full-time

    Pros

Talisys has countless friendly and experienced people who enthusiastically share their knowledge and expertise with others. Vast amount of Securities processing knowledge from all disciplines in the company. From the business analysis to quality assurance to engineering, database, project coordination, documentation and client support, we have highly skilled and fun people at Talisys. Good benefits package, regular Town Halls and fun annual summer picnic and Christmas party.

    Cons

Need more formal training, especially in the newer technologies we are trying to implement. Self-training and cross-training between departments is good and important but mastery of certain skills and successful implementation of projects that require those skills is also important. Also, so much to do but not enough resources, given the strict timelines we have on many projects. No regular work-from-home policy to allow for managing family/personal issues. That said, management is very understanding about adhoc issues coming up and of course, unexpected or extreme weather conditions.

    Advice to Management

Retain the more experienced employees through more formal training and the ability to specialize in the things they are good at and like to do. Recruit new employees based on the incentive to learn the business (from the experienced long-term people). Incentivize everyone by keeping up to date on the software development technologies. Consider implementing a 4/10 hour or 9/9 hour (two week cycle) schedule to allow for a better work-life balance.

I have been working at Talisys full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people, challenging work, great location, decent benefits, bonus program, free drinks/snacks.

    Cons

Technology path for the future is unclear. While there are efforts to reduce the technology debt, most of the focus is on business development vs. upgrading the system as a whole.

    Advice to Management

    More focus on the technology.
