Pros
The opportunity is open for anyone to make money here. We have a robust pipeline, plenty of market share to grab, and the right tools and training to do our job effectively and efficiently. They run a meritocracy here now, although that hasn’t always been the case. Previous leadership (pre-February 2023) picked winners and losers based on feelings instead of results. Can’t do that in sales - it’s all about numbers. CEO and CFO get that, and now we have sales leadership that gets that, too. I know this isn’t my family, but I also know this is a strong team that values me, so long as I can positively contribute, and that motivates me and makes me proud to be at Talroo.
Cons
Sales has strong partners in CS, AM, Product, Ops, Finance, and even HR! But Marketing is a dud. Some good people in the department, but the head of the snake is the problem (see other posts from former Marketing people). Lack of options/stock sucks. Would be nice if they at least said “if we ever sell, every employee will get %% of the purchase price”, even if they don’t really want to give true options. Just something to make us excited about whole company growth.

A Positive Forward Thinking Company
Mar 17, 2023 - Senior Account Executive in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
After reading some of the more recent reviews I feel compelled to write a review about the sales organization at Talroo, at which I am currently employed. As a senior account executive here, for a little over a year now, I have been witness to the growth of an organization with great potential, over a time period in which a young direct sales channel is starting to plant its roots. A recent growing pain for the organization was learning how to scale its account executive playbook. During this period several people were given a shot at the role and were expected to deliver. As is, in every sales organization, I suspect, a metric-based turnover was required. Performing reps here are promoted and underperforming, to my knowledge are graciously laid off. My past year here has also been a time to witness the perseverance of those meant to be great, as well as those who are meant to lead. Under the leadership of our three sales directors that clearly define their roles, and paths to success, keep a win-win-win mindset strong for everyone. (For the client, the AE, and the company). These same sales directors have tapped two strong senior reps as newly minted managers, and rightfully so, to lead us. As a sales professional for over two decades, who prefers to sell instead of managing, I have full confidence that every interaction with our newest managers is productive and beneficial for all. I receive betterment feedback and encouragement respectfully as I need it. Lastly, I would like to take the time to express my confidence in the CEO and CFO who, not only we have the pleasure of having direct meetings with, at outings as well as in office day to day interactions, but they are also the type to make sure no AE feels slighted as they resolve comp plans for an evolving product and client needs. If you’re considering joining us and if you have the skillset required to succeed you’ll do great and thrive here! Just reach out to the senior account executives and we’ll tell you!
Cons
Ever evolving market conditions can provide for less stable client needs.

Great Learning Experience
Feb 23, 2023 - Talent Solutions ExecutiveRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Talroo is filled with lots of supportive, talented people which was the best part about working there. There is good pay, and opportunities to grow as a salesperson.
Cons
The leaders at Talroo preached about transparency and “having your back.” This was not my experience. There was a constant feeling of being “on the chopping block” and not knowing exactly what metrics were driving decisions to either move people to different roles or lay them off. It was mentioned that our Wonderlic personality quiz scores played a role, seemingly more than effort. Around 40 people were laid off right before the holidays with no warning, in a ten minute mass Teams meeting, then they started hiring again at the beginning of the year. Even in times of economic uncertainty, it seemed odd they wouldn’t hold onto the talent already there rather than laying off and re-hiring. I’m thankful for the connections I made, but wouldn’t recommend them as a main source of income.

Pros
Your voice is heard and understood. Because it is a small company, everyone knows everyone and you are looked at like a person, not a number. They care about their employees here. I have had a lot of other manager/job experiences and this has by far been the best one.
Cons
This is a start-up so there will be a lot of moving and changing parts. Most of the negative reviews on this site are coming from angry employees that were laid off.. look at the economy people.. and understand this is a start-up company.

Bad Marketing Dept Leadership
Mar 18, 2023 - Marketing Department in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Ability to work from home.
Cons
The fact that Talroo must submit its own "positive" reviews speaks volumes (you're not fooling anyone). After I left the company, I have been egged on by many colleges to leave an open and honest review to help expose the clown politics and chronic poor management that continues to plagueTalroo. The marketing department was staffed by smart and with-it people but is loomed over by an unprofessional, insincere and untrustworthy director who seems more concerned about what cars people drive rather than backing up the mountain of management promises she spews at every turn. As many others have stated here, she will turn on you immediately, without merit or warning and offer absolutely NO mentorship or path forward. Despite what’s been said to the contrary, Talroo is NOT a startup company nor are it’s many mishandlings of employees excused under that banner. Talroo will definately survive the latest turndown, but will remain an "almost there" company until they clean up their managment mess and replace the hiring revolving door with something more appealing from the inside.

Another poorly guided start up
Mar 27, 2023 - Account ExecutiveRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
They got it right in terms of pay- living isn’t cheap, props for not robbing your employees blind. SDRs range from 50-60 then AEs 70-80, this is reasonable & allows for their sales people to not only depend on commission, good time off, the culture they want/sell to you sounds amazing but versus the culture they’ve cultivated over the last year it’s a joke
Cons
It started off like any start up, figuring out the market and comp plans and putting metrics to use was the idea right? Well leadership fell into the trap that a lot of start ups experience where they don’t really know what to do but when they try to figure it out they lean towards micro management, panic and poor leadership. For example, at the beginning of the year the metrics was to make 4 deals happen a month, then it moved to make 100 phone calls a day. There was always extremes and changes to the job, including why you might get laid off- this was also threatened multiple times from what felt like an insecure unhinged leadership. As a manager put it “you’re in sales, you could be gone tomorrow!” Uhh no thanks, the constant stress of am I going to have my job tomorrow? The way they let over 40 people go 2 weeks before Christmas on a group zoom call was awful. And again 3 months later. With silly reasons like “your personality test, your metrics, not enough hustle” when that was the fattest lie, people who hit their goals and metrics for 6 months straight were let go so the lack of genuine honest reasoning was so gross. They hired so many people just to fire them all?? Don’t interview here, they don’t have it together, they don’t know where they are going and frankly they laid off everyone who voted them best place to work

Great place, Great Culture, Great people
Mar 24, 2023 - Account Executive in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The headline is correct. In addition, I would add great pay, great leadership, great benefits, and very flexible with schedules.
Cons
Unfortunately, the market has hit this industry very hard. So, there have been changes to meet the needs of the company in this time of economic turmoil.

Good benefits, great coworkers, questionable leadership
Jan 5, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Automatic 3% 401k contribution, whether or not you contribute - Free lunches and weekly grill outs - Immediate managers are genuine and communicative - “Lower-level” employees are all wonderful people and a joy to work with - Flexible PTO (technically unlimited but in practice it’s 6 weeks) - Other benefits are good
Cons
The past month or so, certain members of Talroo leadership has shown their true colors. Whether it’s laying off 40 people just before the holidays as a previous review mentioned, the two-week notice that (only some of) the staff will be required to be in-office 9-5:30, M-F, or going to bat for their employees and voicing concerns over the direction of the company, the mask is off. Great leaders are here, but they’re not the ones making the big decisions that are negatively impacting the future of Talroo. It is very unfortunate, because I do believe in the product and the people. However, regressive and short-sighted choices will ultimately lead to this company’s downfall, or at the very least a massive turnover. If things continue the way they are without regard for feedback from employees and management, this company will not look the same in 6 months, and that’s being generous.

Pros
Covered healthcare premiums 3% vested 401k Talented team members
Cons
There’s talent bleeding from the walls at Talroo - brilliant minds and even better people - but their talent is too often choked out by poor leadership or poor training that trickles down from the very top. A top that refuses to work in-office while mandating certain departments to transition from remote work (though hired as remote workers) with as little as 2 weeks notice. 2 weeks to find childcare, 2 weeks to transition, and too little time to advocate for oneself. No one was asked or even considered. And even high level execs have had little sway in the decisions that affect their departments. If you are looking to join their workforce, know that morale is low. Turnover will be high. And the message is clear: you are a machine and you will work when, how and where they want you to … don’t expect to be considered in decisions. The fight has been waged and no one has listened. If you can take a piece of advice, please heed mine. Find work elsewhere - your freedom, growth and mental health will benefit by doing so.

Fast-paced company with a great culture that invests-in and values employees
Nov 15, 2022 - Anonymous Employee in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Great culture and team of coworkers that are intrinsically motivated and value each other as people and employees - Leadership values you as people and not just 9-5 work resource, focuses on helping you grow and understanding what you value in and out of work - Benefits are second-to-none in my opinion. Unlimited PTO, remote/hybrid work environment, paid company lunches (even for remote meetings), 3% company-paid 401k contribution (not matching: Talroo automatically puts this in regardless of your own contribution), good healthcare, tons of fun events, great office when you need it, etc - Salary compensation outside of benefits is very strong - Leadership embraces "test and fail" approach and is willing to invest in new trials to see what works - Clear goals for the entire organization, you know where the organization plans to be and how you contribute to it
Cons
- It is a fast-paced environment, which comes with lots of opportunities but sometimes shifting priorities and plans of action that need quick movement - While an established organization, Talroo is also still growing and improving things like new hire onboarding, ongoing training, clear organizational responsibilities, and other elements that any growing organization deals with
