I have been working at Tandem Diabetes for less than a year

    Pros

Awesome culture that inspires innovation and freedom to be creative. Collaborative management style - did not feel top-down at all. On top of it all, it is an awesome product that is making huge improvements in the quality of life for thousands of people!

    Cons

No downsides that I could think of!

I worked at Tandem Diabetes full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

When I worked there it was a fun place. Good Christmas parties, celebration of milestones, friendly people.

    Cons

This company never should have gotten funded. The business plan was flawed. It is a small market with a huge capital investment, and the product was not designed to bring in good margins. As a result this company will never make money. It is astounding that it even IPOd at all. The share price after IPO says it all. Also there was a culture of keeping mediocre people that were buddy buddy with management and letting go those that weren't. Standard practice in the industry perhaps.

I worked at Tandem Diabetes full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Free gym membership. Free beer get together once a month. The culture is great, most people are friendly.

    Cons

Nepotism is King here. If you are an old childhood friend, church mate, wife, cousin, or a sibling of a tenured employee, you have nothing to worry about. If you are not, your opportunities are limited, don't expect to move up in the company. At best, Tandem is a good place to start your professional career, try not to overstay.

    I worked at Tandem Diabetes

    Pros

Initially a flexible and creative environment where good ideas came from every corner of the company. Spiraled out of control after successful IPO attracted power hungry executives that destroyed the culture. It's located Close to metro station (if you can afford it)

    Cons

Good ideas squandered by management Wasteful spending Inadequate compensation Poor location (traffic, and isolation from surrounding community) They hire resumes, not quality people It's now more Volcano corporation than Tandem :(
