I have been working at Tandem Diabetes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The technical support department has a very relaxed atmosphere and co-workers are friendly.

Others are willing to help out with any questions that you have regarding the job.

A lot of work has been put in to making sure that our team has clear troubleshooting assistance outlines that it can provide customers.

    Cons

Tech support is provided 24/7 which means that most of the shifts work through hours where most people are off of work, making it difficult to have a social life.

During the weekends the department is very short staffed.

Seems to difficult to find room for advancement within the company.

There are a lot of irate customers that call in.

    Advice to Management

Please staff more people on the weekends.

Please listen to serious complaints that workers want addressed instead of ignoring those and fretting over small matters.

I worked at Tandem Diabetes full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Salary, culture, my manager, benefits. I could say everything at Tandem is good except the con below.

    Cons

No work-life balance, regardless of some supervisors proclaiming it is important for them that employees take vacation or days off. We were salaried, even individual contributors, so they could get away with over working employees without paying them overtime or "breaking the law". I am not sure if that is the case in all departments but it was in mine. For example, If I asked to leave early for the day after working almost 12 hours the day before I was told it was ok to leave early but that same day I was assigned a workload that made it impossible to do so as it needed to be "done today", I almost thought it was done in purpose so that I was not able to leave as I was told. I assume this was the case with many other employees since I received a letter in mid July 2017 from a law firm stating that they are going after Tandem after numerous complaints from many former employees claiming they were overworked to their bones, it is kind of an action class lawsuit. I still have the letter and the emails from this one law firm. I didn't do anything against Tandem and did not entered the lawsuit as the company is a good employer, but I know of many that entered it. Regardless of being overworked to my bones, my management (not my supervisor) was good to me, always approachable, friendly. My manager was very smart, innovative and was easy to talk to, she was one of the best managers I ever had and learned so much from her. Unfortunately, she could do so much to aliviate the dictatorship behaviour of the supervisor my team had, which as opposed to my manager, saw her employees as disposable machines, not people. In the end, three of us left the team whithin days apart. You could think this was a red flag for the company's HR but apparently nothing has been done to fix.

    Advice to Management

Please, please please! (yes, I am begging) stop over working your employees, there is already a lawsuit against you so I think it's time you really take into consideration your employees suggestions to fix this huge problem. You are a great employer, probably the best there is in SD (and I've been with some) but you are pushing great talent out since you burn them up! Training supervisors in being effective in managing their groups and spread the workload might be a good option to eradicate this horrible practice. I wish I could still be there, but the insanely long working hours made me run out the door :(

I worked at Tandem Diabetes full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is okay, the hours are okay, and for the most part, you're not overworked

    Cons

There is definitely favoritism with managers, and coworkers. If someone doesn't like you, you can count on being gone quick. I saw it with numerous people.

    Advice to Management

Get off your high-horse and take the time to help people, and get to know them instead of taking all hearsay from horrible people.

I have been working at Tandem Diabetes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Super casual environment. Friendly coworkers. Great benefits/perks.

    Cons

Not a lot of upward mobility; perhaps horizontal mobility? More outreach in this area would be nice - internal promotion. Uneasy about future of company.

    Advice to Management

    Great company!

I worked at Tandem Diabetes full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Free gym membership.
Free beer get together once a month.
The culture is great, most people are friendly.

    Cons

Nepotism is King here. If you are an old childhood friend, church mate, wife, cousin, or a sibling of a tenured employee, you have nothing to worry about. If you are not, your opportunities are limited, don't expect to move up in the company. At best, Tandem is a good place to start your professional career, try not to overstay.

    Advice to Management

Reward good behavior and punish the bad.
