I have been working at Tandem Diabetes full-time

    Pros

-friendly mid-size culture lends to a blend of structure and opportunities to make personal impact
    -decent campus and benefits
    -relatively flat leadership hiearchy
-incredibly transparent with employees on product map, financials, and potential headwinds

    Cons

-can feel somewhat siloed among different buildings and it is a bit of a walk
    -low stock price

    Advice to Management

Keep up the amazing transparency and willingness to answer employee questions and we'll keep delivering.

I have been working at Tandem Diabetes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love the passion of those that work here!

    Cons

Smaller company means there is not always money to market products competitively.

    Advice to Management

Keep allowing passionate people to make independent decisions.

    Pros

Great benefits. Co-workers, were all great.

    Cons

No work life balance. No matter how many people complained of work loads nothing was ever done. Most everyone in the department worked over the weekends to keep up with their work load. Being a salary employee there's no additional compensation for the extra time everyone was working during the week and weekends. Management and supervisor lack leadership skills. Special projects given to their "favorites" with less experience that the more senior employees.

    Advice to Management

To upper management/HR - train those that will lead or hire experienced managers.

I worked at Tandem Diabetes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, culture but they make sure you pay for these.

    Cons

Don't believe the comments when it says there is work/Life balance, IT IS A LIE! Ever since I left Tandem and with my new employer, I have the time to come home on time, cook a meal and spend time with my family. I even know of several people that have left Tandem with severe health issue due to the stress they had while working here (their hair falling off, gaining extreme weight, stress syndromes confirmed by their doctors being work related) some of them development debilitating stress related syndrome for God sakes!, to a point were some of them have thought of suing the company. I hope this review helps other people avoid thinking in getting a job here, pay is good but your physical and mental health is everything!

    Advice to Management

None, many of us spoke and spoke to management about the deficiencies and we're ever told "we will work on it, we'll fix it" but nothing was done. Stay in complacencyland!

I worked at Tandem Diabetes full-time

    Pros

Great company providing insulin medical pumps for customer's with diabetes. Fun environment and knowledgeable employees.

    Cons

Management is horrible. They expect new employees to be flawless, especially within 2-3 weeks of training. Beware of the "Customer Technical Support management team" and their high expectations. Management will go based off subjective interpretation and they will not provide a 3 month probation period for improvement and competency.

    Advice to Management

Management team needs to be at the level of the employees (encouraging, team players, humble, and positive) rather than being egotistic and judgmental. In addition, they need to provide competency for new employees, to allow them to know what areas they need improvement. Furthermore, they need to be an "professional adult" and confront employees when it comes down to termination of their contract with the company, rather than having a 3rd party affiliate due the honors.

    Pros

Laid-back work culture, nearly all employees are friendly, humble, and willing to help you out. Work environment where hard work and creative thinking are more important than job title or experience.

    Cons

Projects seem to lack clear focus or direction. Bureaucracy/politics seems to isolate departments from working cross-functionally with other departments. The awesome work culture that made Tandem the company it is is being increasingly threatened by bureaucracy and sweeping policies that aren't considered wholly.

    Advice to Management

Protecting corporate culture needs to be as important as any other business function. It retains valuable employees while attracting others to work at Tandem. Tandem is a special place, but keeping it unique will require more and more work as it grows.

    Pros

Great salary, great benefits, cool culture.

    Cons

    Long working hours, including weekends.

    Advice to Management

Long working hours are making valuable talent to leave. Be more realistic on project deadlines.

I worked at Tandem Diabetes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great product and industry to serve; you feel like you're making a positive difference at work. Incredibly intelligent employees from individual contributor level to the executive team. Casual, laid-back atmosphere, great benefits, and above average comp and bonuses. Doing a good job of growing out of start-up phase and into a more structure corporation.

    Cons

Expectations are high so if you're looking to "fly under the radar" this is probably not the place for you. Stock price could use a lift as well.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on hiring intelligent, dedicated, and passionate employees.

I have been working at Tandem Diabetes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They are making peoples lives better. You are working for the good guys and improving peoples lives. Growing company full of innovation.

    Cons

Company went public and took a huge hit due to manipulated health insurance coverage. Based on that I would say it's too susceptible to the markets. Medtronic has too much of the market but Tandem's pump is better. Too bad better doesn't win.

    Advice to Management

Keep innovating. Don't let Medtronic buy you. Fix cartridge 19 for gods sake!!
