    I worked at Tangoe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great co-workers, first line manager, and some interesting customer projects.

    Cons

    Inept middle management, lots of people in Tangoe with inflated job titles that had no outside Tangoe experience and clearly didn't have depth of skills. lack of clear direction on projects and leadership meant projects I worked on consistently missed deadlines. No clear path for career advancement. While I was there, I never had a formal review. Pay raises were non existent during my tenure. Most of my co-workers left rather then trying to fight the Tangoe establishment of "That's the way we do it here" culture.

    Advice to Management

    Tangoe has now been taken private and all the executive leadership has changed. Hopefully the new owners at Marlin will continue cleaning house and get rid of bad middle management and look outside of Tangoe for new leadership. Listen to some of your acquired merger talent, you have folks sidelined who are more skilled then long term Tangoe employees who were there from the start. Tangoe can be a success but you have to overhaul the culture first.

    Pros

    Management genuinely cares about their teams.
    Management gives clear expectations of your production and position.
    Open door policy that they actually welcome for use.
    Internal Education to develop skills to attain career goals.
    More consistent with fulfilling their employee promises.
    Vacation and PTO policies.

    Cons

    Fear and bitter Environment
    Harsh Corporate Politics (almost like it's sport and a recent development)
    Crabs in a barrel behavior
    No work/life balance

    Advice to Management

    There needs to be more accountability. You also need to stop the change, calm, change, calm, shock, change, calm. This is unnecessary for a company's restructure. Burning out your employees just sends the message that you don't really want to keep them long term. This is perpetuating the toxic environment.

    Pros

    Agree with past reviews, there are good people here. There have glimmers of hope in trying to achieve a career structure and merit system however that has fallen short as of late probably due to the distraction of the purchase.

    Cons

    A large part of job happiness lies with the side of the fence you work on. Top level (Director/VP+) management of the future product get kudos for their style, leadership and collaboration with employees. While the exact opposite is the case with the existing older product. Chaos is a good descriptor.

    Advice to Management

    There shouldn't be such a disparity between one side or the other. It will just drive people away as it did myself. The company is at a historic low point being sold for much less than it should have been - make changes for the better!

    Pros

    Not many pros. Some good people but not many as most already left.

    Cons

    Lack of training. Management is poor. Don't care about employees. Company sells stuff to customers with no intention of delivering what was sold.

    Advice to Management

    Too late for advice. Tangoe was sold and everyone will be fired.

    Pros

    Employees genuinely want to do a good job and have the drive. There is a level of commitment by some employees and interest on learning and growing. The work life balance is on point.

    Cons

    The lack of structure, process and direction causes chaos. The CEO needs to focus on leading his team and driving the business forward instead of creating training materials from research for his future book or dictating how to rate employees. Who designs a 1-10 rating scale at that level?

    The other issue is the level of management talent. It is shocking. HR is useless. They don't respond to urgent matters requiring employees to fend for themselves and then being punished for making uninformed decisions.

    Advice to Management

    Reevaluate key leadership and have more diversity of thought.

    Great vision, ahead of its time. Good people at rank and file. Experts at what they do, care about their customers.

    Cons

    Focus is on the next deal, not on delivering. New leadership doesn't understand the space or how to turn the company around.

    Board is attempting to hire at the top to position themselves to sell the company. Not much support for those that are client facing and client impacting

    Pros

    My direct manager was very flexible and made sure to recognize my efforts. Besides meeting some great people, there were not many pros.

    Cons

    Upper management is extremely out of touch with their employees and with what is going on day to day. Hard workers who don't suck up to management do not get recognized. Pay does not equate to the responsibilities that are expected out of you. No organization with processes whatsoever.

    Wake up!
