I worked at Tangoe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Entry-level work means entry-level positions.
Hired me without any experience in the field.
Training on-going and geared toward actual situations (not theory-based).
Average starting pay for the field (was low when I started, company-wide increase brought it up to fair market).
    Was work-from-home based.
Above-average health, vision, and dental benefits

    Cons

Work-from-home policy changed company-wide to merit-based when I was hired as unconditional work-from-home (as a result of another department abusing the prior work-from-home policy).
Lateral movements only (hard to get promoted...when you do, it's not an increase in pay, just a job title change and change in responsibilities).
Usually hired externally for management, but management had no experience in our line of work.
Arbitrary Quality Assurance standards that do not account for how much is beyond the employee's control
Starting pay was lower than market average
Going from contract-to-hire meant a pay cut rather than a pay increase.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the talent within your employees and groom them for positions.
Then, give them real opportunities to use these skills so they can put real experience on their resume.
    Hire internally more than externally

I have been working at Tangoe full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people are the only asset this company has right now. So many knowledgeable and hardworking people are coming together to keep the boat afloat while we wait for development to catch up with the technology that we all hope will make us competitive again. Casual dress and flexible time!

    Cons

Constant wavering environment, morale is at an all time low and attrition is high! Pay is not at market rates which does not help the cause! Technology is out dated and is no longer fit for purpose to support our clients needs!

    Advice to Management

Stabilize the environment- clean house if you must but quickly, dragging this out only creates more fear and uncertainty! Move forward with strong people and new technology that will allow employees to work in an environment where we feel we can be successful, and have some work life balance back!

I have been working at Tangoe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I'm regularly impressed by the people at Tangoe, all departments. And the opportunities and flexibility I've been granted have been priceless. I'm in Ops, 3 yrs, so what I say below applies broadly, but not necessarily to Sales, and not necessarily before 2014.

I wish our culture could shift away from martyrdom-for-the-client to triumph-for-our-company. I've dealt with some tough contracts in my time, but the business is complicated enough that I always think we have room to maneuver and win (deliver to the contract, earn/keep the client's respect, make enough money to grow), but we tend to be always on the back foot, always playing defense, always accepting more work (for the same money). This is mostly because, I think, we're dealing with larger, tougher, more mature companies that know how to get the best of people-pleasers like us. If we could create a culture of winning (awarding attention and merit to clever, significant successes) to replace the culture of waiting (waiting for the client's direction, waiting for problems to arise, waiting for others in the company to save us with software or sales), we'd cement the considerable advantage we already have and leverage it into the kind of financial success we all want. Easier said than done--but doable for sure. I'm proud to be a part of this company, but not all the time.

    Cons

    Concur. Hate hate HATE Concur.
