I have been working at Target (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Target is retailer that values it's culture for both guest and team. Being inclusive to all is a core value upheld by leadership throughout the organization.

    Cons

It's retail, and even though I see Target as retail at its finest, it can be grueling. In executive management there are still weekend rotations and working on some, or most, holidays when the store is open.

    Advice to Management

Target is continually evolving to match the ever changing retail landscape. As it changes, we change. We may try something new and realize it isn't quite right, and perhaps there's another way. Failing fast and going back to the drawing board are encouraged by the company, which is great. We are always learning from experiences.

    Pros

    NONE WHATSOEVER IN THIS CORPORATION!!!

    Cons

Total disorganized; too many Chiefs and no Indians. Woooow!!!!

    Advice to Management

Please get it together and more organized and not to be so mean to employees and slave drive them.

    Pros

good way to get some experience working, but i wouldn't recommend it as a career. basic duties like cashregister, stocking, moving carts.

    Cons

management can be bad depending on location, for example certain managers will be tough with hours and taking time off. but most of the times it's pretty average/basic what you would expect

    Advice to Management

    consider employees more

    Pros

Amazing opportunities for growth. If you are what Target is looking for, they will get you to the top quickly.

    Cons

Typical retail experience -- working weekends, holidays, 50+ hours/week, etc.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedules, great employees, fun and light atmosphere. Work around school conflicts so you don't miss tests or classes. Great place to start out and learn a few things.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for growth, hard to keep a good work-life balance.

    Advice to Management

More training to help reach an upper management position.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Room for advancement, competitive salary. Meaningful work. Autonomy of decision making. Fast paced learning.

    Cons

Can be difficult to stand out in the crowd. Advancement or being a short term team member can be as short sighted as having a manager who is vindictive. As in everything, it can be as much who you know as what you know.

    Advice to Management

The mentor program is sub-par and could use some more stringent parameters.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is better than min. wage, they are also really good with flexible scheduling. The benefits include a 15% discount to the store, and healthcare for full time employees.

    Cons

Sometimes breaks run rather short, and sometimes they would cut hours back if they went over, leaving some busy days understaffed.
