I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

10% stackable discount, insurance offered for long term, full time employees, very flexible scheduling, friendly work environment, and very accepting of all people including people of color and LGBTQ. (in my experience.)

    Cons

40 hours a week can't be guaranteed, as hours can be (and often are) cut due to low sales.

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to visit stores more. Ask store workers what we think we need to be successful in selling before putting plans into place. Sometimes our point of view is needed as we are on the sales floor everyday, and are more aware of what does and doesn't work .

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Pay and vacation time

    Cons

You are a number nothing more. Management is terrible and they don't care about anything but making themselves look good and trying to get promoted at anyone's expense. They will work you into the ground and when you can't do it anymore they will blame you and replace you. They don't want to hear anything but positive things, or you have a bad attitude and your the problem and put a target on yourself. You get passed over for jobs then told you need to kiss up more from management.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like people not robots, reward good hard workers not useless workers that do nothing but kiss up all day.

I have been working at Target part-time

    Pros

Flexible hours, easy, fun at times

    Cons

    Political, annoying people, low pay

    Advice to Management

Don’t talk bad about employees and do more on hands work

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount was a big plus. Store management was very nice and helpful especially HR. Were very understanding when I had a death in the family.

    Cons

Bad training, discouraged from reporting on the job back injury. Was often sent home after only working a few hours because of payroll budgeting. Scheduling tool was awful, my hours were super messed up

    Advice to Management

Increase level of training so people actually know what they're supposed to do. Scheduling tool needs to be updated, my requests for fewer hours never went through the system & I ended up working 30+ hours while going to school full time (I wanted to work like 15)

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great pay
    Paid breaks

    Cons

    Mandatory overtime
Emphasis on safety is pretty annoying sometimes
    Toxic, production based work environment
    Poor training.

    Advice to Management

Reduce number of overtime hours from full to half shifts.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is so good, lots of over time opportunities during fall/Christmas season.

    Cons

Trying to do an internal job change is hard. You'll watch new hires off the street get hired into the position you've been bidding on for a year!

    Advice to Management

Wish they understood the reality of the job more, and were more interactive with the team members.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Nice discount
    Decent pay
    Fun work environment
Lots of opportunities to move up/around the company.
    401k matching
    Super flexible
    Very supportive management team

    Cons

Scheduling can be frustrating, but they are generally willing to work with you on the schedule! If your team isn't happy it can make for a challenging work environment... other team members always seemed to have a lot to complain about, but I really like working there and feel that as long as you stay positive and work hard management appreciates it and the work goes fairly easy.

    Advice to Management

Continue to do a great job being flexible with scheduling and so supportive of your team members, especially those with mental health issues.

    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

Management goes out of their way to not pressure employees. This makes for a much better employee experience than at other chain stores where employees are constantly reminded to sell credit and warranty plans or are pressured to take additional shifts. Management tries to maintain a high level of team spirit in the store. Flexible scheduling.

    Cons

A lot of in store safety procedures may seem like common sense, but they still need to be gone over thoroughly before employees encounter safety concerns. Slow to respond to changes in employee availability.
