I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good exercise, a good workout, lots of time to work independently and check out merchandise.

    Cons

Not much training, not organized, no tips or tricks given to newbies and temporary workers.

    Advice to Management

Trainers needed. Perhaps a class or manual for new employees on using the devices. Less everyone for themselves when pulling batches or the same employees running to marketside or never being called to the freezers.

    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

Easy clock in, clock out gig. Just get in and get out.
Pay is good for simple task/work being done.
Small benefits and perks offered for part-time

    Cons

Be prepared to learn different managers/team leads every two months or so
Politics between day & night shift can get frustrating
Culture at Target breeds managers/Team leads with egos or superiority complexes

    Advice to Management

Don't train Team Leads to be managers that just bark orders, train them to be leaders. With such a antiquated mindset it's easy to turn a team against their manager or worse lose an exemplary employee.

    Pros

Very flexible uniforms, so long as you have a red shirt with khaki bottoms you're pretty set. Also they don't care about you wearing out your tattoos or piercings so if you have any you're in the clear unlike most places. Also unnatural hair colors are also welcome, not to mention the hiring process is pretty quick, I got a call back the very next day

    Cons

However as a cashier red cards will drive you insane, they have ridiculous daily/weekly quotas they want you to abide by and they treat you like a child and try to scold you if you don't reach it. They don't care how you get red cards so long as you get them which is extremely annoying to customers and workers

    Advice to Management

Calm down on the red cards, it's not easy to talk someone into financial ruins. The red card has an extremely high interest rate and screws over a lot of people. Also 5% is a laughable "discount"

    Pros

    Cons

Hard, People always on your back

    Advice to Management

Try focusing on teaching employees more on how to "close the sale."

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Got to wear my own clothes instead of the ridiculous red and khaki "uniform."

    Cons

Everything about working there sucked. Management are greedy penny-pinchers concerned only with their annual bonuses. They don't pay a living wage, especially in areas like D.C./Northern Virginia. They are racist and racially profile people of color as shoplifters. APS positions save the company thousands of dollars in theft prevention, and they don't even give you benefits. It's a joke of a position.

    Advice to Management

Pay people fairly. Don't be racist. Conduct interviews professionally - as in, know they are happening, don't pull random managers from the floor to conduct them, place people in positions that fit their lifestyle, needs, and interests, don't fire people for nonsense, share the wealth, protect customer privacy data... could go on all day. Corporate jobs are probably great with Target, but in-store jobs are a joke and basically all suck. They ask a lot and give nothing.
