I have been working at Target part-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

flexible hours, they work around your schedule. perfect for college students.very lenient when you need time off or need to call out of work.

      Cons

They cut hours all the time. Terrible management they only care about themselves. When you ask for help in the front end they say they can't give you it due to the lack of hours. Rude customers. Hard to move up they only hire externally

      I worked at Target

      Pros

The hours are consistent. You can also pick up extra hours because people always need their shifts covered. Cashiers can be trained for the sales floor and vice-versa. The pay is fairly decent for the job. There's an employee discount.

      Cons

The expectations for Sales Floor employees is unrealistic. Target claims to put customers first but you get penalized for helping customers too much.

      Advice to Management

      Be more personable and understanding.

I worked at Target part-time for more than 2 years

        Pros

It's a good first job, to gain the experience of how the job place works, to work on yourself, to train yourself to get out of there.

        Cons

It's the worst company I've ever worked for. The sad thing about Target is that it's just as bad to their employees as Walmart is, but nobody knows. You definitely cannot make a living, you will get yourself into debt working here. They give horrible hours, they train you to do everything, but give you nothing in return. They hire people who just graduated college who never had a job in their entire lives to be the boss...

        Advice to Management

Let people grow, stop hiring people on the outside and not extensively training them how to work every area, so that they don't know what they are even in charge of.

I have been working at Target part-time for more than 6 years

        Pros

They are flexible, they work around my school schedule. There are a lot of discounts available other than the employee discount. There have been a couple of executives who have been great but not enough to outweigh the bad.

        Cons

There is a lack of recognition for those that work hard. It all depends on who you make friends with. They demand a lot of work for very little pay. The benefits were really good but since they took them away for all part-time employees there isn't much benefit to working there. Despite being flexible with some scheduling they do schedule a lot of back-to-backs. It could be worse I guess.

        Advice to Management

Pay a little more attention to your team members, there is a reason moral is so low in stores. Please train your team members, it is frustrating when new team members are thrown into a department and don't know ANYTHING. It leaves more work to be done by everyone else just because management doesn't want to spend the payroll on training a team member. It ends up costing you in the end.
