I worked at Target full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The work is structured and training is always available. Working at HQ was energizing. I was able to see the plans for the future while also contributing to active projects that affected the bottom line. The environment is young and fresh. Being older (40+) I enjoyed being around young people as it gave me a lot of opportunity to mentor and be excited about them and their future. Target definitely had and currently...

    Cons

With all the great, there are always opportunities. They are slow to promote, and slow to change. Being a very mature company, this affects the pace at which they keep up with the (employment) market. The workload is light, and I always found myself looking for something else to do. I always felt that there was an imbalance of just having fun at work and actually working (being there just wasn’t enough to do). ...

    Advice to Management

While your slow move to market isn’t detrimental to the end goal, it certainly affects overall guest experience. Learn to accept that it’s okay to make the wrong decision at the face of technology and the ideas of innovative engineers. Look internally at your engineers that are performing and reward them with promotions to the next level - you want to keep your best talent! Unfortunately this is exactly the reason...

I have been working at Target full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people who care about you and your career, and are always willing to help

    Cons

Talent management is poor and done behind locked doors. You do not always know where you stand, and if your personality doesn't fit the "Target way" you may never get promoted

I have been working at Target full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1. Manage a million+ business 2. Collaborate with multiple different teams to ensure your business runs smooth each cycle 3. Starting class to help better learn/understand the role 4. Reasonable metrics to be held accountable towards 5. Great younger team environment 6. Lots of opportunities to join clubs/take on projects of interest to develop yourself 7. Ability to build a strong network through setting up Coffee's

    Cons

    1. Target is so big, it can be easy to feel small sometimes 2. This is an entry level role, so you do deal with a lot of "clean up" from other teams that did not execute correctly 3. Still room for improvement to Work from Home more frequently 4. Lots of changes happening all of the time- hard to keep up with "best process" 5. Challenging to "Level up" in a promotion to the next pay grade due to very few positions...

    Advice to Management

Continue to develop your employees and understand their natural talents. It's really empowering knowing someone sees your potential for what you "could" be. Also, work hard not to "favor" team members.
