I worked at Target (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pays well, work/life balance, employee benefits

    Cons

    Upward mobility, leadership constantly changed

    Advice to Management

Place individuals in a position to succeed

    Pros

If you're good you'll get asked for a lot of hours

    Cons

Tiring. Repetative. No set schedule makes it hard to plan anything else in life. Really early click in times at 4 o'clock sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Don't call people in last minute. Set a normal schedule

    I worked at Target full-time

    Pros

It can be a fun place to work.

    Cons

Sometimes hours get cut quite a bit but if you come in anytime they call you and ask you to come in and pick up shifts, they're less likely to cut your hours.

    Advice to Management

Don't assume that just because someone isn't loud and bossy over the walkie they're not a good leader. And a lot of times the sales floor team members work a lot hard than some of the team leaders. And if one of your best employees is being treated unfairly, don't just acknowledge it, do something about it. Team leaders need to be held accountable.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a great environment to work in. I loved the people that I worked with and for. It's a great job to improve your communicative skills.

    Cons

They are lacking in reasoning and understanding, as well as communication with their employees. I was let go due to an accidental no call/no show, which I've read is very common with their company. It's sad to see that I was of little concern to the team.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees. If they are usually early to work, stay over when you ask them to, and love their job, give them a call when they misread the schedule, for christ's sake!

    Pros

Work with you on your availabilty.
    Teamwork is essential

    Cons

Some people do not carry their own weight.
    Pay is not as great.
    Samething to do everyday

    Advice to Management

Offer better pay for the employees that do an exceptional job and have a stricter policy and follow up on employees in order to keep up with performance.
