I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible hours
Fair pay for high school/college students
    Resume builder
10% discount on all products in the store
    Opportunity for growth

    Cons

Constantly nagged to push the Target credit card (Red Card) on guests
Hours drag if store isn't crowded
    Stressful if store is crowded

    Advice to Management

Advertisements for the Target Red Card are plastered all over the store and at the registers. Cashiers should not have to press into guests if they would like to sign up because they receive no rewards or benefits for doing so.

I have been working at Target (More than a year)

    Pros

The people I work with are the best. The management is very flexible when it comes to working with medical issues and time off.

    Cons

The pay is horrible. Cross training may get you a pay bump but getting the company to cross train you is difficult.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They are very flexible with scheduling hours; which is especially helpful when you are still going to school full-time. The pay is great for part-time employees.

    Cons

They cut hours, and will fudge around with the full-time employee hours (they will NOT give them overtime [no matter what] - and given the limited amount of hours they give; it still is a business (meaning they expect that everyone has enough time to fill 200+ prescriptions/day, be a cashier for the pharmacy, order and put away medications, return medications/prescriptions to stock, pick up the phone, call insurance, check the dates of old medications, go through millions of steps to do returns, fold/file/backtag prescriptions and hardcopies, etc; when they don't have enough time to do everything. To top it off on top of everything that is expected to be done, they do not have a good way to train on how to do everything (I've worked at Target for 2 years, and I am still half-trained). The ETL's and STL's come around "seeing how things are going"; but in actuality are there to tell the team that they haven't met the corporations requirement for "selling" rewards cards. This is a pharmacy!!! My number one concern is to make sure I fill and release the correct medication; NOT to "sell" loyalty/reward cards. Additionally, the space of my pharmacy is very small and cramped; and the air conditioning/heat never works correctly.

    Advice to Management

Talk to the team as a whole and see where they feel the corporation/store needs to change. They need to see things from an operations perspective and not just from a strategic perspective. If workers are not being trained correctly, or they do not have the necessary space to get things done, then they will find a better job.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Better than average pay
    -comfortable uniform
-great place to make more than work friends

    Cons

    - horrible termination process
    - severe lack of communication
    - poor hiring judgement
    - more than occasional scheduling against availability
    - usual retail inconsistent work schedule
    - rediculously high expectations
    - disrespectful when calling out sick(really being sick)
    - only liked when you make people look good
    - inappropriate remarks towards your character and self-esteem
    - horrible treatment of co-workers who have mental illness
    - due to working outside, while closing at night I have been locked out by the team leader and told to go around to the employee entrance to punch out.
    - Ignorance towards issues that are a priority

    Advice to Management

My advice to my upper management is that not everyone gets the opportunity to make their way through college like they did. And that treating us like dirt because we dont have that silly piece of paper is inexcusable. And your never in the right to tell someone who has been standing doing nothing for two minutes is diminishing your egos while you have been sitting there for twenty minutes sipping coffee while your name is being called for help. There are people who have given their full effort and time to your store and yet they recieve 10 cent raises and no room to promotion because of a college degree, and you personally redicule them because you have something they dont. And it was nice to know that after all my months of hard work and time given to you was matched with not a single thank you or goodbye on my last day. I also am also shocked that you needed to have employee brainstorming meeting because the yearly review from ypur own employees because the ratings were so terrible. My job position was fairly simple as a base fact but you all made it seem impossible.

    Pros

There are no pros or any thing good to say about this travesty of a company,

    Cons

The managements are a bunch of thugs with a teamster mentality.

    Advice to Management

They need to utilize proper channels to communicate with employees. They literally scream into microphone on 3rd shift like a bunch of immature children to announce the beginning and end of breaks. Its ridiculous. They don't know the meaning of safety of employees. The cleaning people are animals.
