I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management is super nice, understanding, and flexible. You meet a lot of fun people. Customers are fun (most of the time) to interact with, and it's a good environment overall. Great starting pay.

    Cons

On your feet as a cashier for long shifts, especially hard when it gets really slow over the summer late at night.

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

In the big-box retail game, Target seems to be among the best companies to work for. Good starting wages, enough employees at each store so that each department can usually focus on their own responsibilities, and a company culture that supports their team members.

    Cons

Specific to the Presentation Team, the work can become a bit repetitive at times. Though each reset is different, it sometimes feels as though you never really complete any project since it will just change again in a month or so. Early morning (4:00am-12:30pm) and overnight (11:00pm-7:30am) shifts can be difficult to get used to.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work was generally pretty straightforward and easy (save for the occasional difficult customer). My direct supervisors were usually very helpful and understanding, but higher managers seemed somewhat out of touch with the lower echelons of employees.

    Cons

Higher management at the store level seems to be out of touch with low-level employees, and to an extent, customers. In my experience, every Red card I signed a customer up for came from the customer asking me about it. Many customers are just annoyed with being asked about them every time they're in the checkout line.

    Advice to Management

I understand that Red cards are important to Target's bottom line, but maybe lay off pushing them so hard in the checkout line when people generally don't want to hear about them.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Target really focuses on keeping things fun, it's a nice environment.
They love cross training good people. You don't have to worry about being stuck in one position

    Cons

If you're a good worker, it's common to be thrown into a position with little training. This can be frustrating, because then they get upset if you don't do well.

    Advice to Management

In my experience, Target was great at encouraging people to get trained everywhere, but it could have spent more time getting people ready for the positions. It seemed like the reason for cross-training was usually "our guest service person called in, do you want to do it?"

I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you work hard you will get training and move up

    Cons

Politics it can be very clicky working in a college town. The focus stops becoming the work and more of who likes who
