I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone works as a team, treated fairly, friendly customers (mostly), flexible schedule, fun most of the time, comfortable around managers, keeps you busy, time flies, learn new things everyday, food and drinks on special days (multiple times a month), positive atmosphere even when there is a heavy work load and many customers

    Cons

varying schedule each week sometimes less hours depending on business needs, hard work compared to most other positions in the store for same near minimum wage, employees calling out often leaving more work

    Advice to Management

stricter expectations of attendance, more understanding of work load and time frames, train new employees thoroughly, better hours for full-time seeking employees, better pay may help keep employees

I have been working at Target part-time

    Pros

10% discount isn't bad, but you have to pay in cash or with a target card. Team leads work around your schedule so if you have school or children they will work with you.

    Cons

Management sucks. There's no communication, which goes all they way up to corporate. The pay is pretty poor for the work they have you do. They never hire upper or mid management from inside the store

    Advice to Management

Come up with a place together so we don't get 3 different plans from 3 different people. Also, a 1-2% raise every 12 months means nothing compared to the ever raising rent rates.

Great managers who make you feel appreciated. Fun atmosphere.

    Cons

    Low pay and inconsistent hours.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked at 3 different stores and under a total of about 9 different leads, and only one of them was bad.
If you dont like the work you are doing, you can switch departments if there are openings. Downside to this is they might try to schedule in multiple departments if you are trained in them and your store is understaffed. I sometimes worked 3 different roles in one week.

If the lead of your department is nice:
    - Casual environment, conversation allowed as long as work is still getting done
    - If you work before or after the store opens, and depeding on the Lead you have,
headphones and music may be allowed

If you are reliable, they are very flexible about school Leave of Absences and
letting you come back on right when you get back

     Pay is alright

    Cons

If you get a bad manager / lead it can really be hell, since there's noone that can really stop them from being that way.
If you work at the register, the only thing they care about is how many RedCards you open. It will always be brought up at reviews if you are underperforming.
Holidays are not fun no matter what, especially black friday. Although they will cater for the whole team throughout the day which is nice.

    Advice to Management

Dont allow people with power tripping mentalities to become L.O.D. It's not fun for anyone

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I know what I need to do everyday and my work is largely independent. I don't need to deal with aggravating customers

    Cons

There are too many managers and leaders who all prioritize different things but they do not communicate with each other which is extremely frustrating when everyone calls for backroom for the same thing over and over or someone tries to interrupt my own work for a less important task

    Advice to Management

Only let those leaders who understand the backroom call the backroom for any tasks

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

worked for two years, a lot has to do with the store your in. i was in 3 different stores. great culture for the most part, and great people to work with. if you can put in the hours and do everything that is asked of you then you can easily make close to 6 figures with this company.

    Cons

the workload, expectations, anywhere from 10-14 hour days, and if they know you want me move up they will work you like a dog and say "its for your development." working every other weekend, holidays, you have thanksgiving off, but then have to be in at 12am for black friday... company keeps cutting payroll which at the end makes even more work for the people on salary. morning shift for my store was 6am-4pm/closing was 3pm-12am.

    Advice to Management

do more to let the ETLs and STLs have work/life balance. working 55+ hours is kinda absurd.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Under the new leadership of Roger Brooks, this organization has been transforming itself to have a greater impact and to build a model workplace. A new ethos based on quality, accountability, civility and mutual respect has taken root. A diversity & inclusion initiative is underway and showing real results. Some of the best people around work here and if you can land a job, you will be very satisfied with the quality of the work, the mission, and kindness of the people.

    Cons

Some practices from the past made meetings long, decisions hard to get, and left some people in management who were not effective and in some cases not pleasant to work with. Fortunately, the new leadership has strongly addressed each of these issues over the past 2 years and made some of the hard decisions that needed to be made. An all-staff survey was listened to and things are on the right path.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for investing in "Growth Mindset" training for managers so that everyone in the organization feels supported and tapped for their skills and abilities.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great customer service training and upward mobility! Good opportunities to gain experience in different store departments. Decent employee discount and relaxed and fun atmosphere.

    Cons

Sometimes disorganized among lower and middle level employees. Upper level employees could be more supportive. Very very high turnover rates depending on the store.

    Advice to Management

Be more attentive to the needs of the workers. Commit to the leadership roles that upper management positions demand. Better organize shifts and hours.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

An alright wage for retail. Keeps employees informed. Flexible hours.

    Cons

Was hired on under the pretense of working near-to-full time. Ended up with anywhere from 10-20 hours a week, despite an abundance of hours available and repeated talks with HR rep.
Also hired under the pretense of working in Market. Ended up working in clothing/softlines despite, again, repeated talks.
Despite its outwardly LGBT friendly brand, quite a homophobic workplace.
No respect for TMs who have been on the team for months. No chance for a raise. No loyalty.
No benefits outside the employee discount to suck back your wages.
    No unionization allowed.
    Impossible daily sales goals.

I worked at Target (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast Passed so the day goes by quick. Employee discount. Safety is a top priority.

    Cons

Cant stand still for one minute or someone asks why you aren't working. Pay is low and so are the raises. But that is retail i guess.

    Advice to Management

Hire full time employees with benefits instead of hundreds of part timers.
