I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good team work with some it is a rewarding experience if you have a good store culture. no unions so that is a plus

    Cons

anyone who is worth minimum wage is not that valuable, low human capital etc, so sometimes you will meet bums on the job

    Advice to Management

have to hire people who will work harder than part-timers, this will set a high standard for everyone to follow

I worked at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good 401k match at 5% which is above most companies.

    Cons

Awful work life balance. Long hours 50+ including weekends, nights and holidays. No chance of advancement. Upper Management could careless about you. Will terminate you if you make too much money. God help you if you or a family member gets sicks. They will find a way to terminate you. You are only a number to leadership. They don't care how their decisions impact you. Anyone who takes a job with Target is out of their mind. Especially recent college grads. They promise you big promotions and big raises that don't exist. If you just graduated college and your thinking about starting at Target run, run run for both your personal and professional life. THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF PROMOTING YOU!

    Advice to Management

Get back to caring about your employees. Hire, promote and compensate based on performance rather than popularity and who interviews better. The cheapest person is not always the best choice. Treat people with respect. Stop the discriminatory practices that are rampant in your culture.
