I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Truly care about the team members. Makes it a fun light environment to collaborate and get tasks done. Open to letting you drive the project and teach you along the way.

    Cons

Retail hours are always terrible. If you are open to nights and weekends then it would be a good fit.

    Advice to Management

When given opportunity for a project, if the employee succeeds be sure to make a note of it for advancement in the future.

Great starting job. I loved it there. Team was friendly.

    Cons

More hoops to jump through if you want to be promoted from within.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Flexible hours and ability to transfer stores with ease
    - Base pay for jobs outside of sales floor/cashier above minimum wage
    - Both positions I had were interesting and were never the same day to day

    Cons

    - Due to some company missteps, my management team became miserable and it changes the atmosphere
    - If you're a lackluster employee, you will not get the same opportunities I did
    - Answering a single question wrong for promotion can block you from moving uo

    Advice to Management

Recover quickly from the missteps and keep your team happy! Happy management = happy team.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working in the electronics department was fun, especially with the great coworkers I had there. I felt I was at my most productive abilities working shifts for that department.

    Cons

The experience working at other sections of the sales floor was very boring and tedious. Furthermore, there was no clear explanation about the management structure, mixed with Target's own titles for those positions only made things confusing.

    Pros

The schedule provides a good work /life balance

    Cons

The comany does not provide enough support staff in the pharmacy

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

there is only one pro i can think of and thats the people i worked with (the other cashiers) all the higher up people were not friendly and it was an unpleasant experience

    Cons

there were so many cons i dont know where to start. well first the whole entire time youre working its just people complaining about the prices of items and youre forced to change them down, even if you know theyre lying about sign placement.

    Advice to Management

stop giving the customers everything they want. I highly doubt that when people come to the register with a $100 item complaining that a sign said it was $20 that they were actually telling the truth. TEACH YOUR GSA AND OTHER MANAGERS TO GO BACK AND CHECK THE SIGNS AND STOP BEING LAZY.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast paced environment, flexible hours, clean stores. Comprehensive training, diverse management at the store level. Some advancement opportunities within company

    Cons

Hierarchy within store, does not take initiative in developing talent from within, Pay could be higher for non-managerial positions, employee discount could be higher.

    Advice to Management

Focus on developing current employees rather than scouring looking for recent graduates. There most likely are several qualified and talented individuals already employed with Target.
