    Pros

Open minded environment, not much else

    Cons

Lack of adequate training, unfriendly management/employees, confusing

    Advice to Management

Only worked there for a month. I applied for cashier but when I got called for the interview, they said they only had positions for "soft lines" and "hard lines" which are basically stocking jobs. Okay then why advertise that you need cashiers? The "training" session provided NO helpful info about the position and neither did the handbook. They basically through you in there without much help. Nobody gave any advice or tips, especially on remembering what each isle has. Not enough walkie talkies and scanning devices for everyone during the shifts which was annoying. They basically threatened you about making sure you take your lunch before you reach 5hrs or else you would be written up. Didn't even give a two weeks it was that bad.

I worked at Target (More than a year)

    Pros

Met some cool behind the scenes people hustling just trying to get by, and build, just like me.. but that's everywhere..

    Cons

Im a hard worker. I was probably one of the best. They never cared about me at all, and that's totally fine, but when I got injured on the job they basically told me that I was fine, don't worry about it, and if it's that serious, but not something so apparent that an x-ray can see, then I'm lying, and just quit my job.

    Advice to Management

Be a real human being, for your own sake

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work itself is simple. Some of the other team members are nice and fun to work with. The customers are usually pretty nice and easy going.

    Cons

Target pays minimum wage ($9 an hour) which is impossible to survive on here in LA. Additionally, Target won't work around schedules or give you set hours so taking on a second job is impossible.

Anti-Union practices. Target makes you watch an anti-union propaganda film upon being hired. If a company needs to threaten to fire their employees for seeking out workers rights then that's a company that's in serious need for workers rights.

The management is young and immature and voicing concerns only leads to punishment for speaking up. Many of the management team members love to gossip and talk behind other employees backs. There's no sense of comradery here. Most of the team leaders will stab you in the back if they can benefit from it.

There is no consistency among the feedback given by management. One team lead told me my zone was done incorrectly, I changed the way I zone, another team lead told me I was zoning wrong and essentially told me to do what I was doing from the beginning. Target fosters a very unhealthy work environment. The people who work here seem to get by get by on gossip and lies. This does not create a sense of pride in one's work nor does it encourage team members to work together.

Target doesn't offer Benefits to part time employees and it only hires management as full time.

Target is a dangerous place. It has a toxic corporate mentality that permeates throughout its management team. Because of my experience working here I no longer shop at Target. I can't support a company that shows nothing but discontempt for its employees.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect. No one wants to work at Target so let's not make it harder to come to work. Listen to your employees. Believe it or not you might not know everything and your employees might have some valuable feedback. Pay your employees a liveable wage. How can you be expected to be an effective worker when you can't even make enough money to pay for rent? What kind of message does that send your employees when they can't survive on the wage you set for them and they're expected to work harder with no chance of moving up.
