I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Going in at twenty I didn’t expect to work at Target for an extended period of time. What followed were the four best years of my professional career. You not only get to work with a wonderful team, but you get the chance to prove yourself. A lot of promotions are done in-house.

    Cons

There is only one true con that I can think of, and that is none other than the terrible red and khaki color combination.

    Advice to Management

Don’t forget to take care of your team.

I worked at Target as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff were very accepting, understanding and supportive of their employees. You can really feel a sense of "family" working here. You don't feel pressured at all to ask questions and they'll help you along the way.

Fulfillment was fun, coworkers were a joy to be around and work with. Our Supervisor was very friendly, understanding and funny bringing the mood up as we work.

    Cons

During seasonal periods, things are hectic, but really not as bad to be honest. Just a lot of moving around. Expect that come holiday time.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing your thing of creating a welcoming, fun and positive workplace. No other complaints.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

45 minute lunches and the coworkers

    Cons

    - Management is terrible and conflicts with each other on what needs to be done on a daily basis.
    - you're required to take your breaks but the amount of pressure and fear of being coached for not completing a task before hand, will make you feel the need to choose if you should even take a break
    - rules changing is a given in any workplace but it shouldn't be happening every day

    Advice to Management

Your "brand walks" are a waste of time.
Stop pinning all the blame on the Team Leads because they are the only true leaders in the building that actually care.
Stop treating your team members like trash and belittling them, especially over the walkie or in front of guests.
No one can trust to talk to HR anymore because nothing is confidential and you'll end up like all the other team members and leaders; coached and belittled daily until they leave.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive wages within the retail industry.

    Cons

    No development
Target Culture treats hard working employees badly and unfairly and to impossible standards.
Lazy and underperforming employees get ignored and are never brought to attention.
Management will twist your words to make it feel like your fault when things go wrong.
Never told good job or advice on development. Only talked to when not meeting expectations which devolves into being put down in a very childish way like you are incompetent when you try to defend your business and what you are doing.

    Advice to Management

Please take the steps to ensure the same quality of management care goes into all of your stores. HR and Management that has been there for a long time has no care as to what concerns you might have and how you are being treated. They constantly try to defend themselves by making you feel like a failure at your job and there is no growth in roles, it is very difficult to learn new things when you are in the same position doing the same routine everyday for three plus years.

    bad pay
    They demand/expect everything from you
    always short staffed
Uniforms, even for the early morning crew
