I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary, benefits, and you get what you put in from an effort and willingness to improve standpoint.

    Cons

Career really depends on the quality of your STL and how they develop you. Visits by GVP's generally make or break how your store is viewed. If DTL's don't hold STL's accountable then it really inhibits ETL ability to improve and succeed.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach around talent management and accountability.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Worked with great people during my time. Always had something to do, especially during the busy seasons like summer and back to school. There was a great amount of team effort.

    Cons

12 hour shifts can be brutal if your not used to it. Some of the work, such as zoning, can be tedious.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. All of the team leaders I met were very helpful and were always available.

I worked at Target (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, easy work, depending on location the managers can be really nice.

    Cons

Poor upper level management, monotonous, my HR was a 19 year old college student so there were always scheduling errors.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more experienced HR

    Pros

    - Easy interview process and easy to get hired
    - Easy to obtain more hours, if needed
    - Great place to learn basic skills needed to work in retail.

    Cons

    - Requesting days off were often difficult
    - Low raises, unless you worked there for a long time
    - Nepotism - unless you suck up, you really will have a difficult time there
    - Snarky supervisors and managers - I was once told, "All you bus riders should just chip in to buy a car to get to work." Who says that to their employees?

    Advice to Management

Be more in tune with the life situations of employees and respect employees more.
