I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay
    Flexible Hours
    Good employee discounts

    Cons

Too large of a workload for one person

    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

The pay is decent for an entry level position, and there is ample opportunity to earn overtime for holidays and seasonal sales.

    Cons

Very boring work day. You will constantly be waiting for the moment you clock out.

    Pros

They're diligent with giving everyone breaks in a timely manner.

    Cons

The management has conflicting views on what should be done, which makes getting the job done difficult. After the recession, they eliminated many positions and forced the workers to complete several unrelated jobs at the same time. They didn't properly train their employees and don't give enough hours to do so. They basically set you up to fail.

    Advice to Management

Don't put employees in the middle of your conflicts. Talk to others in management behind doors and then deliver the decision to the team.

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I work with some very good people. The management has been impressed with my hard work, and has been very god about making sure new hires are brought up to speed quickly. I've had plenty of opportunity to learn new skills, and it's not a stressful environment by and large.

    Cons

Scheduling lately has tried to push close-to-open shifts on my department annoyingly often; we have enough people to re-schedule and avoid them most of the time, but when it does happen I spend those nights and the following mornings with low morale.

    Advice to Management

Close-to-open isn't necessary when there are enough people to cover all shifts.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I've met some pretty awesome people both fellow employees and some of the guest that come into the store

    Cons

The retail schedule can grow tiresome after a while. While most families are winding down spending time with each other around the holidays you spend more time away from family.

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

15% discount, opportunities for cross-training, supportive coworkers, good starting salary, fun recognition

    Cons

Cheated out of vacation pay, non-existent worklife balance, inefficient training, and abusive. Senior management expected too much work out of people and didn't do anything to compensate for under staffing.

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

In the interview process the ETL's projected themselves and the store as team oriented.

    Cons

The team-oriented pitch in my job offer was not implemented throughout the store in the slightest.

    Advice to Management

Allow advancement from within the store, try to more carefully select your Team "leads," stop manipulating your employees into your Target Debit and Credit cards to get their employee discount- it shows poor taste. I have no job satisfaction and if it was not for the genuine nature of our HR ETL, my two weeks notice would have been processed last Friday. At this point it will be submitted the minute I have another job lined up.
