I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great environment, everyone is nice
Great perks when you get a REDCard
    Nice employee discount
    Treats employees fairly
    Good pay
Easy to get someone to take your shift or to pick up extra shifts

    Cons

Sometimes hard on us to get REDCards, becomes overbearing. I can't help it if no one wants to get one.

    Advice to Management

Lighten up on REDCards, it's to the point where I am disappointed if they already have one and it shouldn't be that way.

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you are pro-active you can get full time hours, even as a part time worker.

    Cons

There is no overtime pay for most workers.

    Advice to Management

This is a letter more so to corporate; please allow more members in your stores to receive overtime pay if they are willing to work overtime hours.

I worked at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay, customers were nice, constantly changing work environment.

    Cons

Once went four weeks without pay and no manager or HR cared untill I stressed I haven't gotten paid yet and for some reason, they thought I was talking about my pay rate? (which I still don't understand why) My department felt like a one man team, because it was just me and my boss who was CONSTANTLY behind on paper work, so work days that he was in with me would seem like I was alone cause he was in a bad mood because how much work he had to catch up on, unless it was a total emergency, like a guest complaint or something along those lines. Rude managers who were constantly stressed out and would never allow you to ask questions. Seemed as if they would micromanage people they didn't like, just to get them out.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team and don't just brush it off when the conversation is over.

    Pros

The co workers, the job itself is not bad

    Cons

    Everything else.
The pay does not equal to the responsibility you are required to achieve everyday.

    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

I initially was brought on as a seasonal worker. They management staff decided to keep me after the holidays had ended. I worked at a smaller target with a close group of employees. I can honestly say that the environment was very team oriented. There wasn't a single person I worked with that I felt wouldn't go out of their way to help a fellow employee. The management, for the most part, was quite supportive as well (with the exception of a few).

    Cons

They will work you to the absolute max. It was not uncommon to work 30+ hours a week despite only being part time.. although they would always make sure to cut you right before you hit 40 hours so you couldn't benefit from working overtime.

    Advice to Management

Almost all of the management were wonderful people that had the best interest of the team and the store in mind. If I could offer any advice, it would be to be more direct with subordinates. It was not uncommon to find out through the grapevine that they weren't supportive of something you had done or were asking for as opposed to speaking directly to the person in question. A more direct approach would be more effective. Also, have more than one person on the sales floor at a time and more than two cashiers on clock at the same time. As a previous sales for team member, its impossible to be two places at once (on the cashier and on he sales floor) Don't be scared to have people on the clock.

    I worked at Target full-time

    Pros

Peers are great to work with.

    Cons

Management, etl and hr were not trained properly for their job. They basically give it to anyone with a degree. Lots of sexist favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Try being more receptive to employee suggestions especially those who have been there longer.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Managers were great and I cross-trained in many different areas.

    Cons

Unless you get a manager position the salaries weren't all that great.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees a little more and work with those that show commitment to promote from within.
