I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Majority of the employees are nice and helpful. The pay is better than most retail jobs. Discount is 10% with an additional 20% off fresh fruit/vegetables and their simply balances brand. If you pay with your red card you get 5% off as well. The job is really easy.

    Cons

They constantly schedule people more hours than what they were hired for, they also schedule you on days you are not available and expect you to cover the shifts. Very little training. The rules don't apply to everyone and the management plays favorites. You are not supposed to have drinks in the store however most employees have one but only some people get a talking to about while the person next to them gets nothing said to them.

    Advice to Management

Stick to employee's availability and hours requested. Give more training and the processes of the store. Treat everyone the same, your corporate policy is to treat everyone fairly but the store management does not.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most of the (hourly) team members.

    Cons

Boy...where do you begin? Management. Playing favorites. Have to beg for hours - unless you are one of the favored. Lack of follow through from mgmt. Did I mention playing favorites?

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the team members that produce, not the ones with their lips attached to your behind.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Meet great people. Good customer service experience. Learn to deal with not so nice people. Decent pay for someone in high school.

    Cons

Target cannot decide if it wants to be a big box store or some kind of specialty boutique type shop.

    Advice to Management

Mandating bachelor's degree to be ETL is ridiculous.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Will teach you the basic skills required of most jobs in some form or another
Will usually get you working in a team environment.

    Cons

There are times that the work does not justify the cost.
In some situations, its very easy to be overworked.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary is somewhat competitive for entry-level retail position. Friendly environment. Store was flexible with availability to a reasonable extent.

    Cons

They push their employees to get guests to sign up for the RedCard to a near-psychotic extent. It's literally all they care about. Store Management mostly consists of 23 year old cheerleaders with non-business degrees. I wish I were joking.

    Advice to Management

Advertise your RedCard in the Store Ad and on TV to inform the public of what it is instead of burdening cashiers to do that. Hire more professional ETLs

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible scheduling and quick hiring.

    Cons

Training is "train yourself as you go".
Their philosophy is you were hired for a position, but we will have you do other team members jobs too.
As an AP guy, I was made to be the cart attendant and the trash!

    Advice to Management

Do know the paperwork you are giving people.
Be proactive when presented with internal issues.

    Pros

The pay was pretty good for an internship at $17.50 an hour. Store and district management were very friendly and welcoming and they made it seem like they were excited to have you in the store. Discount was nice too.

    Cons

Late nights and early mornings, but thats the norm in retail management

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

When on flow team there are always opportunities to get extra hours and stay late.

I enjoyed early morning cause had the rest of the day to just chill

    The people are really chill

    Cons

No cons honestly it just depends on what kind of supervisor you have every store is different

    Advice to Management

    None
