I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people working at target are all very diverse and friendly people. The work environment is usually positive and welcoming. It's easy to get shifts covered and they have flexible hours. Pay is really good for the position.

    Cons

Supervisors stress red card goals more than anything else, I felt a little dehumanized by it. Customers can be very irritable.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees less like credit card robots and give them incentives and feedback beyond credit card goals.

    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

The best thing about working at Target is definitely the employee discount. It made it easy to save money and see the sale items.

    Cons

Management did not take into account when I was not available, even if I submitted in advance. This was very bothersome and eventually the cause of my quitting.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your employees because you don't pay them well to begin with. It would be nice if you valued your employees more than you do.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They were always very clear with expectations and training. There was the most diversity I have ever seen in any work place (ages, genders, mental/physical ability, etc.). The work was straightforward and management was always kind to me. I had almost no experience going in to the position and was able to leapfrog to something better because of it. If you work before the store opens, they gave an extra dollar/hour. Good workers were never short on hours.

    Cons

There was little room for advancement or raises. It was seemingly impossible to go from part-time to full time, but they would gladly schedule you for 39.8 hours/week to keep you technically part-time. High-turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Don't schedule people for minutes short of full hours to keep them full time and therefore get almost no benefits. It's not a good tactic to keep good workers around.

I worked at Target as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company, I think there is room for growth. Fun, fast paced invironment. Every day is different.

    Cons

Retail so you will have to work on the weekends and holidays. Everthing is pretty grey if you like black and white do not look into guest survice.

    Advice to Management

I did not have the best experience with Target. I had two seperate internships the first one was amazing and i thought i would want to work there. The second was the deciding factor in my decision not to work for the company.

I worked at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

I loved the enthusiasm of management and the company takes good care of their employees!

    Cons

The hours can sometimes be a struggle. They would often go outside my availability, but they ended up being pretty flexible about it.

  10. "Overall an OK place to work, can be fun some days and terrible others"

I have been working at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

You meet a lot of people working there, so potentially could be a good place to network, especially for younger workers. There's too much happening for your supervisors to micromanage so there's plenty of freedom to grow without a manager always breathing down your back

    Cons

It gets very busy on weekends! End of shift time isn't set in stone, we get off when the work is complete. You might find yourself getting frustrated fixing others' mistakes.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job training new workers. Find a way to hold employees more accountable and correct mistakes before they become bad habits
