I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good to develop and learn. Depending on your leaders around you you can learn a lot form experienced leaders

    Cons

Demoralized team struggle to continue staffing makes it hard to work with unmotivated team members.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers in this particular store are great.

    Cons

Not much training available. The online training doesn't help much.

    Advice to Management

Hard workers will not stay unless management starts doing something about those who are NOT working.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There's always something new and exciting going on. Target really does value diversity in its employees. Because it is a big corporation, Target tries to treat everyone fairly and respectfully.

    Cons

Sometimes individual store leaders bring their own personality flaws to the store, and this negatively impacts employee morale and the general treatment of workers.

    Advice to Management

Be open-minded, treat everyone with respect, and keep lines of communication open. You may think the "little guy" doesn't matter much in store operation, but everything they do , every day helps to create either a culture of cooperation and enthusiasm, or an attitude of apathy. It's up to the leaders to set the tone by caring about employees, and treating them as the valuable resource they are.

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Obviously everyone's experiences are different, there are a lot of variables. The pros I list pertain to the Outbound department. As long as you're hired into a warehouse position you make a starting wage, currently of $17.24 with a top out of around $21. Its a full 40 hour work week with opportunities for overtime, and in certain times mandatory overtime of 12 hour shifts. You receive your check weekly versus every two weeks, which has multiple benefits. The management has been kind and accommodating, and the team members generally work as a team. The work is very physical and results in a lot of turn overs, you earn your pay. The insurance isn't the greatest but its better than nothing and has proven useful to myself.

    Cons

It is a very physical work environment. Not everyone can realistically work for a Target DC due to it primarily being physical labor. Loading trailers, picking items, throwing material onto conveyors. To get a first shift position you must be with the company for a period of time as it primarily works on seniority as to who can get those hours. Overtime does become mandatory at certain times of the year such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, other major shopping times.

    Advice to Management

The biggest advice more pertains to the higher ups. The focus on quotas and productivity numbers is extremely high. To the point of tipping the scale on productivity and speed versus quality of work.

I have been working at Target part-time

    Pros

Starbucks and Pizza Hut in store, great discount (10%) plus red card (5%), opportunity to pick up hours

    Cons

Management wants you to be a robot. Just smile and get red cards. Trying to learn other areas can be like pulling teeth.

    Advice to Management

When an employee shows initiative, teach them. Don't just push them aside or you'll lose them.

I worked at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great starting pay and shift options. 3 and 4 day, 10 to 12 hour, morning and night shifts. Will hire anyone with no experience necessary.

    Cons

The work is very laboring and very physically demanding. It appears that they can fire for arbitrary reasons. The production expectations are not realistic with all the different types of freight encountered.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly co workers. Was extremely understanding and flexible to work around my class schedules.

    Cons

Not much room for promotion. Was given a poor annual performance review because I hadn't been with the company for a year instead of being based on my actual work performance. Was explained that it was Target policy to write the review that way.

    Cons

very dead end, meaning very to little room for growth. the company doesn't care if you stay or leave.

    Advice to Management

care about your employees not the numbers.
