I have been working at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Employee discount of 10%

    Cons

hours are cut drastically after the holidays. I have had weeks down to only 4 hours per week twice a month. Real bad when they cut hours.

    Advice to Management

Consider the needs of the customers when it comes to cutting payroll. There are never enough cashiers and they have to ring for the other employees to help who are non cashiers by hire. Many times the customers are disgruntled with the lack of cashiers up front even when its slow. Weigh the cost of the purchaser and what they are spending vs the actual hourly wage your paying that cashier to assist the guest with good quality service. Value what they spend vs what you paid said cashier to assist them it matters. If they are spending over a hundred dollars and you paid your cashier 11 to get them in and out it makes for a happier guest. Word of mouth travels far when they lodge complaints with others about the lack of service. Rethink your options.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Heavy focus on a team based and inclusive environment.

    Cons

Incredibly cliquey, which tended to be perpetuated by store leadership. This is a common theme across most stores I worked in.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees equally. Treat them with respect and be reasonable with requests. They are people, not slaves.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy interview, pay slightly more than minimum wage.

    Cons

Absolutely the worst place I have ever worked. I was hired as seasonal, and I could tell right away that no one was happy about it. Regular team members' hours get cut and you get blamed. I wasn't properly trained and just thrown into working, and when I brought up the fact that I didn't know how to do something, other team members told me it was my responsibility to learn. I was constantly asked (by the person who supposedly trained me) if I ever went through training and why I kept doing tasks incorrectly.
They assign you to the fitting room without telling you what you are supposed to do (where you are supposed to zone when things slow down, what hangers to use, how to answer the phone/transfer a call) and any time I had a question or didn't do something properly, I was called stupid and incompetent to my face.
One team member had such an issue with me that she constantly interrupted me while I was speaking with a guest, and even went as far as telling the guest that I was not the person to ask because I did not know anything. I'm not sure if they just didn't bother training me because I was seasonal or what, but the store was constantly a mess and I was always blamed for it.
I am sure other Targets are nicer, and they pride themselves on being a team and a family, but I have never been so talked down to in a working environment. After mispronouncing my name, multiple team members told me they would not even bother learning it because I wouldn't be there long. The people in hardlines were much nicer to me in huddles, teaching me how to use the devices, but softlines is like a clique that gathers in a circle and gossips about you while you are standing right there (this actually happened to me when I was working the fitting room).
I was offered to be kept on after the holidays end but I cannot imagine still working alongside these people.

    Advice to Management

Properly train your team members, listen to them when there is a problem. Respect their availability and do not schedule them outside of it and then get angry when they cannot make it.
Less huddles. I worked an 8 hour shift with 4 huddles and each lasted over 30 min (although they always say it will only take 15 min). My own tasks do not get done and I am blamed for it. Also, it seems inefficient to take everyone on the sales floor and put them in one spot for almost an hour.

I have been working at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have never worked there before but i have a friend who just started working their. And her interview was successful and the people who helped her were very nice. Also every time I go to target they also have polite helpful and fast customer service.

    Cons

I don't know any cons maybe when you apply they don't respond fast if they want you or not.

    Advice to Management

To keep up the good work and keep up the leadership skills.
