    Pros

Fun, friendly environment. Discount on merchandise, holiday pay.

    Cons

Rotating schedule, late hours, open holidays.

    Advice to Management

Make sure your ETLs remember that the people believe them are humans with lives and families outside of Target

Days go fast when it is busy

Self-checkout can go slow and have a lot of problems.

    Advice to Management

Schedules need to be more constant.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fairly flexible scheduling, so, so discount. Nice co-workers, like store merchandise. One stop, shopping.location of store. Good neighborhood. Good security. Food avenue is nice. Nice people working in food avenue.

    Cons

Too many chiefs. Not enough Indians. Very Bad management. They embarrass and demean employees in front of other employees and management. Very unprofessional HR Department. Most of them have no business in HR!

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The money is the reason to stay.
High paced job, always on the go.
    Team atmosphere
Company is established and in decent standing

    Cons

You work a minimum of 50 hours a week and lose every holiday with your family.
Quick turnover for the ETL position due to people getting burnt out quickly for being over worked and under appreciated

    Advice to Management

    Life/Work balance is not possible

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked at Target for 1 year..The schedule and work/life balance were decent. The discount on everything in the store is ok.

    Cons

Poor management and training..I was put at the service desk alone, during the holidays..after only 1 day of training....very stressful.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to properly train people before you start nitpicking at the job they're doing.

I worked at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

So in this position you are tasked with pulling items from the backroom shelves putting them on carts to go out.

    Pros:
    * fast
    * fun
    * cordinate with other team members
    * everyone was nice
    * better pay than sales positions

    Cons

only complaint would be the PDA software needs to be updated but I believe the system was changed shortly after I left.

    Advice to Management

All of the management that was there at the time I was employed were very nice. I enjoyed interacting with the backroom team leader as well as supervisor.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I worked for Target for 10 years. Generally had a good experience.

    Cons

ETLs in my store were lazy. Would walk past merchandise on the floor and page someone else to pick it up. Target rarely promotes from within. They'd rather higher college grads who know nothing about the company than select employees within the store who know the culture and business.

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was able to change my hours to accommodate my kids schedules when ever I needed to and they didn't make me feel bad about it.

    Cons

    I have absolutely no complaints.

    Advice to Management

Target does a much better job of picking employees than Walmart does. I enjoyed all team leaders that I worked for. The use of radios in the stores is better for customers and employees. Over all, better shopping and working experience. Thank you.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Team Members are generally friendly and helpful. Good with making team members feel special by having food days or adding fun activities. Flexible with days and hours (unless you're on a special team). Vacation time starts adding up after averaging a certain amount of hours.

    Cons

ETLs don't understand much outside of their work centers and spend much time standing around. No room for growth, unless you are an ETLs best friend. Hard work often goes unnoticed, unless you have an ETL who is forced to care about your score. People are not held accountable for sloppy work. Guests can be very rude. Hours are highly unpredictable. I can go from 20 hours in a week to 35 the next. All that matters is redcards and beating other stores. Pay is probably better than other retailers but still horrible.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring new ETLs right out of college that have no idea what is going on. Go back to hiring within because even though you may have to pay them more, the overall wellbeing of target is improved. Don't assume every target is the same and that every idea will be the best for every target.
