I have been working at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great benefits for team leaders.

    Cons

Store executives are mostly recent college grad bimbos who lack any business competency or common sense and are brainwashed and scared by corporate into reiterating talking points. Management routinely scapegoats Team Leaders via disciplinary actions when they are bold enough to speak out regarding practices which are absurd and damaging to the business. The company currently has an incompetent CEO and is run like North Korea.

    Advice to Management

Wake up. You are running a perfectly viable business into the ground. Your stock went from $80 to $50 almost overnight due to gross incompetence at the highest levels of management.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

encourages good teamwork, time management, multitasking, and detail-orientation; higher-ups were also very eager to educate

    Cons

depending on the clientele, the workload in the apparel and accessories section can be a lot to handle and can easily become stressful, upward movement from entry-level can also be difficult to achieve, constant clash between payroll and corporate processes

    Advice to Management

understand the difference between working hard and working miracles when it comes to completing the workload

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My coworkers were amazing and my managers were like friends to us so we had a lot of leniency when it came to breaks. That's the only positive of this job. It was like a family environment. They are very flexible with school schedules which is always a plus.

    Cons

Corporate expects us to do way more than humanly possible within a short time frame. The customers ( I refuse to call those heathens "guests") we got were absolutely horrible. They made the job unbearable. No respect and always felt entitled. Employees get almost no raises and put up with more than we should. The employee discount only pays for the taxes of most purchases. The hours we're crazy. I would come in at 4pm and not leave till 3am, knowing I had an early class the next day. Softlines would be the last to leave the store because we had so much to do. "I would quit if I worked in softlines" would be the tag around the store from anyone not working in softlines.

    Advice to Management

Corporate should visit during closing hours instead of opening hours just to see how much workload the employees have to deal with. Also, a little more positive reinforcement would be nice.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great base pay, Overall good company to work for, Looks great on Resume, Develop great skills, Co Workers are often friendly.

    Cons

Work one weekend on one off, some weeks you end up working 6 days in a row, required to work a minimum of 10 hours a day (you always end up staying 11-12 hours a day), there is always a lot of work required, some times unrealistic goals. District is in your store 1-2 times a week, always a lot of pressure when they are in.
Work life balance is not valued there.

    Advice to Management

Set Realistic Goals, Remember the reality of the business and offer better work life balance.

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good co-workers, decent pay, time and half plus an extra dollar on holidays.

    Cons

Does not promote within, they could care less about the Starbucks employees, treat them like they're garbage, no help when needed, refused to hire new people when there was only two people running the store area, dangle promotion opportunities in your face but then get someone else with zero experience of your section to run it, expect to do manager work without the title and pay, no chance of overtime.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring poor choices for manager positions and stop treating your hard working employees like garbage.
