I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - The coworkers were quality people, with usually positive attitudes
    - easy system for asking for time off work if you need it. Fairly easy to trade give away shifts

    Cons

    - you will work for a WHILE before you get just a $0.25 raise
    - management preaches lame teamwork crap like robots

    Advice to Management

Come back down to earth! Stop treating "vibes" like a valued currency to your employees and maybe you will keep the average employee longer than 4 months.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The dress code is super laid-back, so it doesn't matter if you have tattoos or piercings. I even had purple hair while working there and it was fine. You get a 10% discount plus if you get a RedCard you get an additional 5%. The job itself was pretty easy especially just being a cashier. If you do your job right, they are willing to train you for better positions. They're pretty flexible with your availability and schedule as well.

    Cons

REDCARDS REDCARDS REDCARDS. If you work the front end you will be required to get guests to sign up for Redcards. They will pound it down your throat. You might be a great cashier in every other category, but if you aren't getting Redcards then you aren't doing good enough, so expect to be giving the Redcard spiel every five seconds. They don't higher people full-time that much. The hours were all over the place depending on the season and staffing. Some weeks I got 35 hours while other weeks I only got 10 hours. While they did move me to a higher position from being a cashier to guest service team member, that process was a little crazy and unorganized. I ended up just getting thrown into it without much training and was expected to just pick things up as I went along which was a little intimidating. Plus it was evident that it was as far as I was going to be able to move up at that point because of staffing. My store was also had a lot of drama and cliques, which I've had at other jobs as well, but it felt a little too high-schoolish at times.

    Advice to Management

Don't just award employees for Redcard numbers, there are other aspects to the job that an employee might be succeeding at that gets ignored. Make sure you give your employees adequate training before just throwing them into a position with more responsibilities. Also, try to make management and team leads understand that it is very obvious when they are playing favorites. Also, it's very unprofessional to get involved in employees personal drama especially when they are supposed to be leading.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, salary can be competitive, discounts, some stores can have a really strong family type atmosphere, others can be run terribly.

    Cons

Too few resources means as a salaried manager you get to finish the job, no matter how long it takes. As a store assistant manager, the term Executive Team Leader is a fancy title used in its place.

    Advice to Management

Spend less on upper management, bonuses, store visits, and unnecessary costs. Funnel the difference into payroll so the stores aren't so squeezed.

    Advice to Management

Try to increase advertisement for employment.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working as a Target Protection Specialist they have flexible work schedule and work around my class schedule (currently in college). There is the possibly of moving up in the company and becoming a team lead. And there it is a good way to learn how to watch people's body language.

    Cons

There is a very high turn over rate and the work environment is always changing. Depending on who is above you it can be a very stressful work environment and makes the job not with it, but with good management above you it is a fun and easy way to make money.
