I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Pay
    Employees
    Good well being discount
    Friendly environment sometimes
    Discount

    Cons

    Work life balance
    Favoritism
    Mangament

    Advice to Management

Ensure your employees aren't over worked. It is not okay they one team member is left to zone 2 departments in low volume stores while the LOD just walks around demanding orders. Stop promoting unqualified individuals who do not know what the true meaning of a leader is.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked as a HRTM and then a HRTL for nearly 4 years total. It was a great experience starting out. I learned and gained a lot of leadership skills I didn't have before. If you are good at your job, show potential, and have a great ETL to report to, you will be developed into a great leader and move up in the company rather quickly. It's up to you.

    Cons

Since I was in HR and went to school for HR and obtained a Bachelors in business before getting this job, it bothered me that I had to do things on the sales floor at times. Having to work insane retail hours, although I worked in the "office" (TSC) really bothered me. I used to work shifts as early as 6AM-2:45PM and as late as 3PM-11:45PM. It would be worse if it was holiday season. I remember working a 36 hour shift once. Yes, I got tons of breaks and overtime but it was mentally and physically taxing. The attitude there is all "go, go,go", there is zero work-life balance.

    Advice to Management

I think the top policy makers in Minnesota should spend time undercover to see where they can make changes that actually have a positive impact on employees. When I first started there I loved it; I even turned down a job offer from MSG doing HR for the Knicks (if I regretted things, this would be one of them). But eventually the lack of work-life balance (especially for an HR professional) wore me down. The culture and values we hear about during orientation gets lost on in-store management. So many of my friends, associates, and even executives with whom I worked quit in the 3 years years I did. Turnover at Target stores is extremely high.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Its a fast, fun and friendly place to work. Its also a very good company to learn and grow with. Target has made me an effective business owner which will definitely help me in the future.

    Cons

    No overtime for Target employees.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is potential to grow within the company. They are flexible and willing to work with your availability. Most of the management team is approachable.

    Cons

At the location I am at they overwork their overnight employees. New employees are not properly trained. They don't know how to utilize their employees strength.

    Advice to Management

I think management needs to get more involved in the work process. Their is not a staff and sometimes it will help they gave a hand. I would recommend that management hold people accountable for their actions and not punish everyone.

I have been working at Target (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people you work with tend to joke around and like to have fun. Although the environment sucks the people are nice.

    Cons

Everything sucks. They don't pay enough for anything and the bosses ask for too much. No overtime or anything so don't look for it

    Advice to Management

Stop being so demanding and care for the team members for once. You all love to degrade us and then force us to do work.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not min wage, store discount, prizes and In house competitions for all sorts of little tasks made it fun. Easy enough job, depending on your location you'll have lots of great guest.

    Cons

Once the holiday rushes are over as any retail job your hours take a HIT. Franchise can afford an increase in starting wage now that min wage increased. Other then that I really had an awesome 6 months on the floor and as a cashier

I worked at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

This internship was a lot of money. I took it to pay off some of my school loans. The team members were great. The only reason I struck through with the internship was for the money and the people I worked with.

    Cons

The ETLs, the STL, essentially everyone above you. I had a horrendous STL that was a sexist. He was disgusting with his views and the way he showed off. His ETLs were rude and always were irritated and complained about the job. There were moments where I wanted to quit and I would cry about my experience. Beware! Some people have a great time as an intern and others do not. Unfortunately, the store I was at was terrible. Even with the money, I would never do this internship again.

    Advice to Management

Stop being rude to your workers. Don't bribe them. Be kind and polite to everyone. Watch what you say.
