I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a job and you are getting paid, not much else to be happy about. The most productive workers tend to get the most hours (as it should be). If you want to work more hours, be sure to get cross trained in every department, including the back for pulling.

    Cons

Men are expected to work much harder to make up for lack of productivity from the young female work force. The older women typically work very hard, but the young girls do next to nothing in comparison. If you can get past that and just accept the inequality in expectations then its not a terrible place to work. Hours can be hard to come by when they over staff but if you work hard you will get the extra hours over the slackers.

    Advice to Management

Everyone should be held to the same productivity standards baring a legit disability. Talk to your employees and get to know them better.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, fun team, and simple job that requires a lot of physical work which includes heavy lifting and lots of walking.

    Cons

Pay is not competitive for the position and is not worth the risks of heavy lifting, walking constantly all over the store picking items, and having to deal with logistics and customer service. Also, poor management, excessive workloads, no way to move up in the company, and poor yearly raises are other issues with this position.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees more and fight for better wages for them that are competitive with the market for jobs such as these. It truly shows that Target has no care for its lower level employees and is not even willing to pay markets worth. For being number one in the region for online orders that you consistently gloat about and congratulate us on there has been nothing done for us as employees. The salary is no where near what we should be getting for the work that is being done. Also, not giving us opportunities to grow and be promoted within the company shows the lack of care management and the company itself has for its employees.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a job that paid money. Good customer-facing experience transferrable to career client-facing positions. Most shift leaders were on point and good motivators.

    Cons

Constant pressure for cashiers to sell credit cards to customers, at zero commission--was never informed about this practice until day one on the job.. Legal?

    Horrible pay for work completed.

Cheap and rude customers--just one step above Wal-Mart customers.

    Advice to Management

Provide commission for red cards "sold".

I worked at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Personal connections with team members and leaders is more like family than co-workers. Without those connections i would have quit sooner. I have made personal connections whiten Target California both team members to upper management I will always cherish

    Cons

Management Experience is subpar, lack of leadership direction, decision making inadequate, no accountability for there actions. Certain team leaders/members are allowed to continuously break Target time clock lunch/break,working off clock rules in order to meet goals. Pressure to work beyond your schedule hours a refusal results to not being on scheduled

    Advice to Management

Evaluate ETL/STL Ethics, Diversity is non existent in upper management, Research company wide time clock violations and team members who work Off the clock to complete tasks. Work Life Balance is non existent with pressure to work beyond your scheduled hours.
