I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly Staff, Decent pay, very easy going environment

    Cons

Physically intense work, Hours have changed and it makes it easier to complete the job

    Advice to Management

Keep the overnight staff hours actually overnight. The trucks are the same size and it is a lot harder to finish stocking when the store is open.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Opportunity to Advance from Within with hard work.
    - Enjoyed my Co-Workers and the values my store had when starting. These values deteriorated over time, I cannot speak for every target location regarding this.
    - 10% Employee discount on almost everything in the store that can be coupled with sales/coupons and the 5% store card discount.
    - Depending on the departments you work you can get resume experience that can get you elsewhere.

    Cons

    - Asked to perform a large number of tasks including sales with often little to no adequate compensation
    - Expected to handle disgruntled customers and to keep up with your other work, if you're not management you can often get harassed even though you were simply helping a customer (which takes time).
    - Expected to religiously push the store credit/debit cards especially on the register all stores have a daily/weekly quota and managers are more than happy to harass you about it.

    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

    Consistent policies
you get your all your breaks and in a timely fashion
    Most LODs are understanding

    Cons

    Poor compensation for area
Little to no room for advancement
Very Passive Aggressive corporate culture which appears to have trickled down to the stores
No guarantee of any hours at all not even for Team leaders
Not as flexible as I would like for those with second jobs

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the crazy culture
    Provide more oppertunities for advancement
Up the pay just because the competition pays crap wages doesnt mean you need to as well.
And Listen to your team members even Henry Ford and Sam walton all knew that if they were to be successfull it was crucial

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good for high school students requiring flexible hours.

    Cons

Management always sides with rude customers... such is the nature of the retail business.

    Advice to Management

    None.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a really easy job I litteraly stood around all day and nobody cared. Might be more difficult now because it's not owned by radio shack anymore.

    Cons

it was a very boring job. It did not pay well at all. I hated my manager because he won steal sales away from me and other employees who were new.

    Advice to Management

Don't be like radio shack. Make them do work. Don't take sales away. Help them through the training.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Cool co-workers. that's about it. I can't think of another positive thing about the store I work at

    Cons

Management is poor, nothing gets done because everyone is worrying about their own sectors instead of the overall store quality. Employees who don't do any work are not punished. It's a long list

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

"Decent work/life balance in many areas (including work-from-home opportunities)"
"The interview process is different, but I always work with great team members"
Great employee benefits. Very high tech, efficient systems in place in all areas. Fun place to work.

    Cons

"Work life balance is difficult to maintain, each store has a different culture"
Upper management was not interactive enough with the employees. Great training was available but were rarely able to use it because of payroll constraints.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    at least at my store:
usually friendly guests, fantastic fellow employees for the most part, its like one big family at times, free food and drinks certain days which is a great highlight, store overall has a positive vibe, employee discount and finding clearance deals when they first print, fellow team members all work hard. great benefits and support.

    Cons

really low pay for the amount of work expected and/or done. lod's and team leads could work on floor more, some at my store are really hard workers, others tend to "hide" around the store frequently then pop up to micromanage then disappear again. need more consistency of store policy a little bit, hold people accountable for their actions or lack there of instead of letting favoritism get in the way. we have 2 levels and guests tend to do STUPID things at the escalator and vport like pushing child with cart on vport or pushing child in stroller up the escalator... the possibilities of stupidity are endless but can be amusing at times. people like to pee and poop in fitting rooms... blagh!! kids running around the store making a mess bc their parents dont care enough to spend time with them.

    Advice to Management

need higher pay increases for employees at lower levels. if it wasnt for team members zoning, reshopping, signing, inventory, .....endless list, the store would not be running as good. and please stop announcing your visits, it makes the lod's and etl's showcase their store. you should be seeing how its run without you being there, isnt the point of a visit is to see how the store is running and give pointers on improvement???
