I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay is considerably higher than other stores, they have an excellent benefits package, and their operating procedures are efficient and productive.

    Cons

Some of the atmosphere can be a little dazing; just picture yourself in a store with ultra-bright UV lights. The biggest recommendation I would make would be to streamline the flow at the stores to make it more seamless and fluid.

    Advice to Management

The management does an adequate job. I don't know of anything I would recommend changing to management.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was given plenty of hours and the work environment was pleasant. Coworkers were knowledgeable and willing to give a helping hand when necessary.

    Cons

The job description given in the advertisement did not match the actual duties I was eventually given. Wages were low and I could not maintain a proper living.

    Advice to Management

Give prospective employees proper job descriptions

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The majority of co-workers are nice and are willing to help

    Cons

The sales floor person is over worked and underpaid, not really good benefits

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to employees and maybe they'll stay longer

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Today was my first day working as a Flow team member with the shifts hours of 4 AM-8 AM. The work was fairly easy learning how to sort. The work flow is fast which means your work schedule will fly by. You have the option to leave if you want after 8 AM, but since I was new I stayed to after 12 PM (plus I wanted the hours) . The ETL was very nice & checked on me several times and that made me more comfortable to ask questions and go to him for help. Oveall I like the company so far.

    Cons

You will have to deal with people who aren't "morning people" & that comes with some negative attitudes & rudeness. Since it was my first day I was unsure if I had to leave at 8 AM so when I asked a couple team members I got several different answers. I broke down a couple pallets with some people that are fast freight pushers and one person that was moving fairly slow. He left most of the heavy appliances for the older females to push out. I lot of mothers with uncooperative kids screaming and running around tends to slow your speed down, but not too much that it's a big problem. Also, some people see that your stocking with pallets & several carts & they tend to want you to move your whole freight system around just so they can look at something for 10 seconds then walk away or to walk through when they simply could go down a aisle and walk around.

    Advice to Management

I would like to have more understanding on if you can leave at your scheduled leave time due to many people did different things. If the new employees could be told the general system of the scheduling and when you can get off then it would help a lot.

    Pros

    -easy tasks
    -decent training
    -friendly staff
    -flexible hours
    -great benefits
    - if in highschool, managers will make sure your off at 9:45pm sharp
-team leaders make sure you get ALL off your breaks in (ITS THE LAW! lol)

    Cons

-no matter what department you apply for you must be cashier trained so that way you can come up for back up
-on slower seasons your hours will be cut, but you can ask to be crosstrained in another area. you will not get a raise for it though
-sometimes you might be scheduled to a workcenter you normally wouldnt do (forced crosstrained)
    -messy breakroom
-once a year raise based on performance, even if you do a great job you wont get much of a raise
-too many cliques (backroom vs. flow, front end vs. sales floor)

    Advice to Management

When being crosstrained in a different workcenter , we should be able to get some kind of raise for working there. I've worked salesfloor, cashier, pharmacy, in-stocks, pricing, backroom logistics and flow. As many years as i have worked, i still have not made a decent pay grade. I do a lot and I'm very knowledgable about the Target brand.
