I have been working at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Discount, short commute, friendly coworkers

    Cons

Full time gets 8 hrs one week, 4 hrs the next. Won’t let work in other departments.

    Advice to Management

Focus on employee well being and less on your performance bonuses. Be open to employee suggestions.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Heavy focus on a team based and inclusive environment.

    Cons

Incredibly cliquey, which tended to be perpetuated by store leadership. This is a common theme across most stores I worked in.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees equally. Treat them with respect and be reasonable with requests. They are people, not slaves.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility of schedule and Cross-training opportunities

    Cons

    Limited opportunity for growth.
You had to very close with the ETL in order to develop or get hours.
Annual raise was annual and not enough to compensate work.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This company does give a lot of vacation time once you've been there long enough.

    Cons

Overwhelming for all sales floor associates. Hours are cut every month and things get worse and worse

    Advice to Management

Unrealistic expectations on your employees. Little time to care for those that need help to meet expectations.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful people and team with a hands on mentality.... Great working atmosphere in all departments. Loved working there, but had to move.

    Cons

The payment could definitely be better., especially for extra hours .. Working hours are very flexible, which is awful most of the time.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, Annual increase, Fun People, Activities and Food for Employees

    Cons

It is what it is. Don't expect to become CEO when you start as a cashier. They treat you like the $8 an hour employee that you are.

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees and they will respect you. Do as I say not as I do is probably not the best approach to managing talent. This is not my full time job and I have more experience in my real job that the people who "manage" me.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Easy to learn POS system
    -Coworkers quickly become friends
    -Team leads are friendly
-Opportunity for lots of hours if you pick up shifts for other people using the shift swap board.
-Opportunities to cross-train in other departments.
-I personally agree with Target on many of their values (inclusiveness, i.e. the Target restroom debacle)

    Cons

-The number one con is REDCARD QUOTAS. You are required to get a certain number of redcard signups per shift, and if you don't reach your quota, your team leads will lecture you about it. The redcard lectures got so bad I got scared that I would get fired over not getting redcards. Unless you get sign-ups every shift, you will never hear the end of it.
-There are no incentives for you to get redcards. You do not get paid commission, you are simply a slave lining the pockets of upper management.
-If you put open availability, you will get all the wonky weekend and late night shifts that no one else wants or already took off.
-Customers are entitled and will abuse you and treat you like you don't know how to do your own job. They will fight with you about sales and clearance items, and try to abuse the coupon system. The same could be said about any retail cashier job, however.
    -Not easy to advance.

    Advice to Management

    Stop with the Redcard nonsense.
