I worked at Target full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The people you work with can be wonderful. The job itself is self explanatory.

    Cons

Upper management can be ridiculous. I worked for Target for 10 years and you met every kind of management leader and some we're good others you wonder how they got hired on. Expectations are all over the place and not entirely consistent. Favoritism runs pretty rampant in the company and districts. As a team leader depending on what department and who your ETL is you can expect to either not have any help or a micro manager.

    Advice to Management

Please don't overload your team leads and stop promoting people that don't have the qualifications to be in upper management.

I have been working at Target part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great hourly pay Good associates Friendly environment

    Cons

Some leads (supervisors) get on a power trip. Same leads get a superiority complex and can be disrespectful and degrading.

    Advice to Management

Everyone should be treated the same and fairly. We should be one big happy family in the store.

I worked at Target full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The job was easy and the pay was really good. Benefits were OK.

    Cons

The shifts were 12 hours and you were basically on an OP all night long by yourself. No music, nobody to talk to. The DC was dimly lit and overall it was just depressing. Some of the long term employees weren't that friendly either.

    Advice to Management

Allow the employees to listen to music. They say you can't for safety reasons but at Amazon they always had music playing.

I have been working at Target part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The pay rate is higher than most retail stores, and they do plan to have the base pay at 15/hr by 2020z

    Cons

Management tends to come off in a vaguely threatening way. They make sure you’re aware of the 90-day probationary period, which makes everyone feel very paranoid when beginning to work there. They have a very restricted number of hours to give out, so one week you may have plenty of hours and the next you might have only a few. Being sick means nothing to management, even in food areas. The employee discount is okay, but not great . 10% on the whole store, an extra 10 on healthy food and sports ware.

    Advice to Management

Stop making your employees feel like they’re constantly in trouble. You’re losing good employees because they feel like they’ve done something horrible when really they’re just doing their jobs. Also, hire more people and stop restricting your hours so much.

I worked at Target part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The best thing about target is that they were very flexible when it came to the schedule. Especially if you were a student. They also didn’t care if you had piercings or tattoos, which I really appreciated.

    Cons

Selling red cards. Part of the job was trying to get people to sign up for a Target credit card or debit card. Even if you tried hard it was sometimes very difficult to get people to sign up. management really pushed you to sell those cards, and at times it just wouldn’t happen.
