    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

Team members friendly. Discount was nice.

    Cons

I worked in Market and came from a grocery management background. No team meetings to assure we all knew goals. One of Target's weaknesses has always been lack of stock. My target was no different. There was no focus on maintaining in stock status. Items not priced or priced incorrectly and when I tried to correct as I stocked, I was told not to worry about it. Endcaps remained bare for a day or more. No push for seasonal items in grocery. Items stocked incorrectly and no focus to correct it. All of these things lead to a frustrated customer experience and sales opportunities missed. The zone is a joke. Everyone should be zoning all day as they push mdse.

    Advice to Management

    Too much to list.

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

For people who do not have career goals target stores is a wonderful place to work or for students who need cash while working part time.

    Cons

It is not a place for educated people. However, it is not Target's fault that in order to be leaders at Target you have to have a dominating personality or an offensive way to get work done. The corporation have set goals for the stores which in turn makes the employees working in stores suffer. You have to a "retail" person to work in their stores.

    Advice to Management

Sustaining a billion dollar business is hard. The pressure of investors and stakeholders is something which may be out of my imagination and i cannot fathom. But somewhere over there in the top there may be executives who have children whom they teach to be a considerate person. All of that comes at a cost of people hard and sweat of people who are working hourly jobs at Target stores who are underpaid, overworked , people who cannot sustain their bills, people who cannot afford dental insurance or even health. As modern business may demand fast-paced deliverables and progress human emotions may come secondary but Target needs to do something about their hourly workers and learn something from Costco.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Health insurance after a years and paid on Christmas and Thanksgiving after a year. 401 k after a year. 30 percent off of veg and fruits..

    Cons

No working equipement.. broken lockers..Only full time benefits if your in management.. no matter if you work 40 every week.. once you put your two weeks in.. your benefits stop the last day you work.. no matter if they cut you early.. no matter how hard you work or how you lead.. your always replaceable.. your no body.. no respect from upper management..No matter if you exit on good terms..

    Advice to Management

too much chit chat on the walkie from management! No incentives..managers are not consistent and eat lunch at the same time.. there isn’t much leadership. Just a lot of micromanaging from leaders who get away with not working and harassing fellow employees..

I have been working at Target part-time

    Pros

Awesome pay, very friendly guests and positive atmosphere!

    Cons

Low hours but if you’re available, you will get called in!

    Advice to Management

Take notice in your hard working employees. Competition is everywhere and your employees with awesome customer service should get the hours.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good recognition for the work that you do, also it's a fun environment to work in. Coworkers are the best part.

    Cons

I would like to see more trust coming from leaders and less micro managing. The individuals that know what they're doing get taken advantage of and the people who don't do well are babied and don't have to do as much work.

    Advice to Management

    See above.

    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

Sometimes they put food in the break room.

    Cons

Unrealistic amount of work to be completed in a short amount of time.
Always expected to stay veyond scheduled time with no notice.
    Very strange "culture."

    Advice to Management

Upper management (beyond store level) need to rethink their expectations. Also if you want people to do four jobs in one, then pay accordingly.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - The coworkers were quality people, with usually positive attitudes
    - easy system for asking for time off work if you need it. Fairly easy to trade give away shifts

    Cons

    - you will work for a WHILE before you get just a $0.25 raise
    - management preaches lame teamwork crap like robots

    Advice to Management

Come back down to earth! Stop treating "vibes" like a valued currency to your employees and maybe you will keep the average employee longer than 4 months.
