I worked at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fast, friendly environment. Good people to work with. Flexible schedule.

    Cons

Working during the holidays means working 45+ hours a week, hard when you have kids

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good people to work with. Everyone is good on management besides one person. My advice is to cross train when you get there

    Cons

Weird hours, managers butt heads some days

I worked at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great team environment. Positive culture! I never felt the weight of too many managers. At least in my store, I did not feel like there was a ton of petty gossip. And if I ever got sick, no one's head exploded like it was the end of the world like some retail places that rhyme with "fillards"

    Cons

Very physically demanding at times which would have been fine if I were younger. The pay was normal for retail but certainly nothing you could live off of. This was in 2011 so their pay may have changed since then.

    Advice to Management

You all have a hard job. Keep up the great work and take vacations to get away from it when you need to. Try not to let this job make you crazy.

I worked at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

Kind people depending where you work, good starting wage

    Cons

WAY too focused on Red Card sales, get mad at you when you get sick

    Advice to Management

EASE UP ON THE RED CARDS. THEY'RE NOT THAT POPULAR ANYMORE.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great flexibility and work-life balance as I was attending school while working here. My manager was understanding of my school schedule and made the effort to schedule accordingly. Room for advancement within the company for those that were motivated and interested. Great team atmosphere and management.

    Cons

As far as part-time college jobs go, no complaints from me. It's a great way to make a little money on top of a busy schedule. May have more complaints if I had stayed long-term?

    Advice to Management

Better incentives to motivate workers. It's a little too easy to slack off in this kind of job.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Target will train you, and make sure that you understand before throwing you into your job. They are also very flexible with scheduling, which is good for students. You have the opportunity to pick up extra hours from other departments if you want to.

    Cons

I usually had to work at least one night a week, and they want you to be fully available on weekends. Some of the management is disorganized and forgets schedule change/time off requests, so you have to be on top of things yourself.

    Advice to Management

Management should make it a goal to to know their employees, and make an effort to ask them how they think the department is doing. Since often times it is the team members running the day to day tasks in the department, their input is valuable.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are great, schedules are flexible. I was able to transfer stores without issue. They do make an effort to connect with local schools and the community, it's a shame I never took advantage of it when I worked there

    Cons

Little room for advancement within the store, raises are quite the pittance. I worked there for nearly 5 years, and had the capacity to do almost every position in the store effectively.

    Advice to Management

Recognize those who are able to work in multiple positions. The upper management has to be able to do all the entry level positions, so why deny someone the opportunity to grow this way?

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They are very flexible. I had to miss work on several days and they were very cool about it. Always understanding

    Cons

it is very repetitive work, customers can be jerks and you can get bored very quickly. You hope to get pulled off the front to stock shelves.

    Advice to Management

Give more incentives to sell/ push credit cards
