I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Extremely close to my home

    Cons

Training was horrible; I would find out things were part of my job when I didn't do them. Reminded me of high school cliques, either you were in the "we like you" group or you weren't. Had one manager who couldn't even operate a register and screamed at employees AND guests. Just wasn't the place for me.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of Jeff.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people, great if you like guest service, can be a part of a team.

    Cons

Hours! Ridiculous expectations to run a store with minimal workers.

    Advice to Management

Why can't hours be averaged over the year. Key stores control their own hours, and if they underspend one week, they can bank them for when they'll need them.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Co workers and customers. Health Insurance at better rates than US Govt Marketplace.

    Cons

Store leadership has changed from retail professionals to fresh B.A. graduates with no experience.

    Advice to Management

Too much focus on tech, not enough on people. Develop managers and mentor team members.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

At some stores there is a good team atmosphere. Overall good company to work at. Does have a few good benefits while working.

    Cons

Hour hoarding for team members to ensure bonuses. Lack of equipment and resources to stores that really need it. Advancement doesn't come quickly, especially if not a favorite.

    Advice to Management

Communicate effectively to the entire team.

    Pros

Somewhat flexible in scheduling as long as you can do it within a two week window.

    Cons

Target is starting in what I call the "Beginning of the End". The Canada results were no mistake. This company has some serious operational issues which need to be addressed. The current CEO pledged to spend around 2 billion on logistics upgrades. If it is along the lines of the "my device" introduction and the recent "RFID" program, they are heading in the wrong direction. They lack the internal discipline to make these programs successful.

They lack priorities and what they refer to as the store manager, the ETL (Target loves acronyms - another issue on a different level) will put their bonus goal ahead of the store and their team members. A result of a poorly prioritized program, not the individual IMO.

To sum it up they are a "polished turd".

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying about selling something and focus on more on having something to sell.

Quit hiring "minions" and hire more experienced managers at the store level. It's OK to develop some able bodies within. But hiring only just out of college "frat boys" and "sorority chicks" will result in "clickish" management and poor results. "Your not one of them and your stupid" is not a motivator.

Your management team make up shouldn't reflect the "bulls-eye". Wonder why you screwed up so badly on the bathroom thing? Try the old saying, "birds of the feather ..." Sad given they did not realize the amount of stores that have existing "family" or "unisex" single stall bathrooms. Simply clueless about their own organization.
